Smell not like oil
Make sure that none of the coolant lines are connected to the engine by mistake. Whitish exhaust is usually coolant in the exhaust system. If the engine seems to be running smoothly, try running in a little to see if the smoke will clear up. Also see if the transmission has an external modulator. If it has, make sure it is not bad sucking transmission fluid into the engine.

Your car is burning oil. This is most likely due to leaking valve seals. That would explain why the car is losing oil but not coolant.

if u have a 302 or 5.0L it probably is early warning signs of burning oil. Check pcv valve and change oil and use a quart of lucas engine restore. It may also be valve stem seals if only smokes when u start it up.

It probably has some internal engine damage. If you pull the spark plugs one or more will probably be oil fouled.
You may want to have a compression test done and see if you can find the source of the oil - may be a head gasket.
