I have a 2004 Buick Lesabre Limited and the windshield wipers don't work. I took it to a mechanic and he said the fuses 2/Accessory & 3/Wipers are not getting power. He tested windshield wiper motor and it was fine actually came on somehow don't remember how he actually did that. He said it was an electrical problem. Anybody know what's wrong any advice on how to fix it?

At 2004 your car could be fully computerised and if so the circuits could be quite unconventional and so it isn't wise to delve too deeply without at least referring to a wiring diagram.

Computerised cars tend to use black boxes to carry out switching duties when they receive a (digital) signal from a switch or a sensor. An oscilloscope is as much or more use than a voltmeter when troubleshooting on such cars...

SOURCE: Windshield Wipers

Under the cowl (it is a plastic piece that the windshield wipers come out of) are the wiper arms that connect to the wiper motor. There are plastic parts that hold the wiper arms to the wiper motor. Lots of time these plastic parts dry out and break and the wiper arm will fall off the wiper motor. I would bet if you tried to move one of the wipers by hand both of them would move with little resistance. This would tell me that the wiper arms are disconnected from the wiper motor. The parts to fix this are easy to get. I know the motormite HELP line of parts used to have the plastic bushings to fix this problem.

SOURCE: windshield wipers don't move, but hear motor running

check the nuts on the wiper arms and make sure they are tight. If the nuts are tight then a linkage on the wiper transmission probably came loose or broke. You'll have to pull some cowling off to access it.

1989 Buick LeSabre the windshield wipers will not turn off. How do I get them to turn off please.

You should have a wiper fuse in the interior fuse box that you can pull to temporarily turn the wipers off. I suspect that the issue is due to a bad wiper switch which will need to be replaced.

What could be my problem for my windshield wipers to suddenly start and stop working?

It could be the screws are loose (at the bottom end of the wipers)
There may be a rubber cap you will need to access the screws. (Also worth checking if the wiper motor is working when wipers are not)

Other possibility, the wiper motor fuse is loose with intermittent connection - locate the fuse box and take out all fuses, inspect them for damage/burn marks and insert them firmly back.

Hope this helps

Windshield wipers suddenly do not work on my '04 LeSabre.

  • Check the fuse and also the wiper motor if you switch on the wiper and you don't hear the motor is not working the problem might be on the fuse or the wiper motor.

Buick Rendezvous front and rear winshield wipers not working

I had the same problem on my 2004 Rendezvous with both front and rear wipers not working. Thanks to AutoZone I found free wiring diagrams on their website. Fuses 29 and 32 were good. YouTube videos suggested checking relays. The problem was fixed by interchanging Accessory Relay 27 with the same type of relay, Relay 20, the Rear Defogger relay. I ordered a new relay, plus a spare for $30 from Amazon.
