You can drive it till it breaks of course, that will cost much more then replacing it as maintenance though. I would plan to have it changed much sooner then later as you are already past your recomended service time.

SOURCE: 2003 Ford Taurus, 90K, used car, engines shakes, ABS goes on

Are you getting any codes from the Check Engine Light? This sounds like it could have something to do with a sensor. Check your air filter and make sure it's clean. The tach on my 1999 doesn't really work, but it hasn't coincided with other driveability problems. The engine doesn't change in it's RPM's, the tachometer just stops working. Have your charging system checked. The shaking might be coming from bad fuel pump operation, clogged fuel filter, or dirty fuel injectors. Try putting an additive into your gastank to clean the injectors (a bottle of Seafoam is great for this). Try calling your local Autozone and see if they do free trouble code scanning. This might help lead you in a better direction.

You will need to contact VOSA (Vehicles operating standards agency) on 0300 123 9000, they should be able to inform you on the steps they need to take forward with you in order to have your MOT certificate rectified.

My 2001 VW Beetle GLS is showing kilometers. How

Normally you need to replace the speedometer. Is it driven by a cable or is it electric/digital? There are suppliers that provide speedometers with miles and kilometers both available as a option, such as one bought in Germany to American specs purchased in Germany for reshipment to US, commonly available in instances where a tourist want a car to pick up in Germany, drive for awhile, the ship back to US.

Purchased focus sport 2006 model no service manual. Mileage 43,000 kms. Need to know service intervals either time/mileage perhaps a copy of the service schedule will suffice.

These maintenance intervals come from the maintenance interval calculator
at www.autozone.com, using a starting point of 25,800 miles (43000 km), and
assuming 1000 miles (1666 km) driven per month, and "severe driving conditions," which
are actually normal usage characteristics, such as frequent short trips, urban driving, waiting in traffic, driving in hot weather, trips under 16 km in cold weather, etc.

STARTING MILEAGE: 25800 (43,000 Kilometers)

Bad gas mileage i filled my car with 91 octane i live in canada its $1.20 a liter right now and i got 274 kilometers to that tank is there something wrong with my car ?

If your car is at 80k miles or more, first change out the oxygen sensor. Their life-span is only 80-100K miles. (not sure what that is in KMs.

This is what provides feedback to the computer to fine-tune the air/fuel mixture. When this fails, you will run a rich mixture and get worse gas mileage (or literage as you might say)

Gas consumption

My Answer:

Poor gas mileage can be a result of many many things.

First of all you need to find out what is the factory normal gas mileage for your model year Jeep SUV. It should have said on your window sticker if you bought it brand new. If you are a 2nd or 3rd owner then a Jeep dealer would have info. Google search will tell you as well, and only takes a couple minutes to find.

I did a quick Google search and for a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a (4.7L V8 engine) the average mileage is roughly 14 mpg.

Not sure what engine you have as to options, etc?

How you drive will greatly change that number up or down depending on a number of driving and driver variables.

A few being -

Driving habits?

Tire pressures?

Engine tuned up?

Lube & oil/filter changes (every 5,000-7,500 miles? Air filter changes (every 10,000-15,000 miles)? Read your auto manual for exact recommended intervals.

How many people in the SUV on average?

Are you towing anything?

Type gas you are burning - BRAND? (See injectors below)

Area you are driving in (hills and valleys verses flat out,
etc)

Jeeps in general don't have a good track record for great mileage, and rough engine idling is always a clue that your fuel injectors are dirty. Typical on all Jeeps with port fuel injection systems! On Jeeps with dirty fuel injectors your mileage will go way down accordingly. If your not putting at least a 12 oz bottle of say Walmart brand Super Tech Fuel Injector Cleaner (~ $1 each) in your gas tank religiously every logged 1000 miles, or every 2 tank fill ups, then you are just inviting dirty fuel injectors and POOR fuel economy!

My 1993 Ford XPLR with a 4L V-6 engine (and ~ 160,000 flawless driven miles) gets roughly 22 miles per gallon on the highway with cruise control on, and about 17 around town on average. I religiously put a 12 oz bottle of the above injector cleaner in my gas tank every 1000 miles!! Of course I do all my own tune-ups, general repairs, and suspension maintenance (shocks, O2 sensors, trans oil changes, lube & oil/filter changes, code reading and clearing, etc) myself and it shows! I don't trust repair shops except for say Tires and Balancing at SEARS.

Hope that helps ease your mind about gas mileage as it relates to your Jeep there.

Frank
