SOURCE: how to replace a starter on 1994 gmc sierra 1500

unhook the battery, there are 2 wires on the starter solenoid, 1 is a 5/16 nut and the other is a 9/16 nut remove those wires. this maybe easier to remove the heat shield first. next ther are two 9/16 bolts holding the starter in position, remove, and the starter will come out, about a 15min job

SOURCE: replacing turn signal switch in a 2006 Dodge Ram

NO, the steering wheel stays on, all you need to do is remove the covers, look under the bottom cover there will be screws that hold the top and bootom covers together, after you remove the covers you will see two screws that hold switch to column, remove them piull switch out and remove connectors and then install new one, heres a picture of the switch to help you, good luck, hope this helps.johnjohn2_15.gif

How do i switch the key lock on the steering wheel on a 1993 gmc sierra

You have to remove the steering wheel, Lock plate and turn signal switch. Then remove the key buzzer connector and then the bolt holding in the cylinder. It isn't real hard work, but you will need a steering wheel puller and a lock plate puller.

I need instructions on how to change out the ignition switch on a 2004 gmc 1500 pickup truck

Hello Steve...The lock cylinder will come out if you can turn the ignition switch. You have to remove the bezel around the steering colunm, the plastic trim behind the steering wheel. There is a small hole on top of the ignition lock housing, you need to turn the ignition to the run position, move the shifter to drive(so the starter does not enegage) use a small pick to push in the small hole and turn the ignition to the start position. The lock cylinder should now slide out.
    I will post a schematic.
You do not need to remove the steering wheel.

Happy Holidays...good luck, i hope this helps, please rate me a fixya.

2000 SERRIA, HORN WILL NOT WORK WHEN YOU DEPRESS THE HORN BUTTON, WILL SOUND OFF WHEN YOU PUSH THE ALARM BOTTON, WHAT IS THE SOLUTION. JOE, POQUOSON VA.

If the horn works with the alarm button but not with the steering wheel horn pad the problem is most likely in the contacts beneath the steering wheel. This requires pulling the steering wheel and repairing the contacts.
If this vehicle has an air bag in the steering wheel make sure to deactivate the airbag circuit before pulling the steering wheel.
