SOURCE: GMC automatic transmission

I'm told and read a sun shell may be broke. Common problem for this vehicle. Shop will possibly rebuild and use aftermarket kit parts to correct problems the transmission had originally. Cost is probably between $1300 to 1600 to repair. Good luck I got the same problem on a 97 Jimmy and 3 shops said the same thing.

SOURCE: 1996 nissan no reverse or neutral

Unfortunately the only thing to do in this case is to open the gearbox and see the real status of the cylinders, it's very possible the cylinders do not make contact anymore.

SOURCE: 2000 Subaru Outback transmission problem

After a good deal of research and several shops suggesting a rebuild of the transmission, I decided to have the trans fluid and filters changed before doing anything. It was a tough call because it could have been a waste of $125. As soon as the spin off filter was removed you could see it was blocked. So the hydraulic pressure in the system was way down, still enough to engage reverse and enough to work all the shifts, but not enough to engage forward without a slight tap on the accelerator.

My Subaru has 240 000 km on it and I suppose the clutch pack rebuild wouldn't hurt, but as it is now it engages quickly and shifts up are noticeably smoother.

May not be the solution for every case, but it solved my situation.

SOURCE: abs light stays on and traction control stays off

abs, traction control, tire pressure monitor and fuel economy indicators all use a speed sencer in the wheel hubs, save yourself a lot of greaf and have a mechanic do a code read and test the sencers, i had the same issue and it messes up the whole system, i ended up replacing one hub assembly for about $190,
as for your transmission acting up, put the fuse back in and change the fluid, DO NOT HAVE THE TRANNY FLUSHED, JUST A FLUID CHANGE!!! if you want to drive another day. todays tranmissions are way more complex than they need to be and have many solinoids and sencers that can and do fail, good luck.

SOURCE: The clock on my Nissan Pathfinder is acting funny.

That is a typical problem with many late model import vehicles. The observations that the clock goes on and off sporadically and that tapping on it turns it on leads me to believe that the clock is going bad internally. I offer a very reasonable repair service for many late model imports. Check out www.autoclockrepair.com

My car when in park acts like in park and drive. When in low gear acts like in park also . When in drive acts like ipark brake is on but will move when rev up

First have it put on a lift and make sure that the tires are properly able to freely turn. You may have a brake that is hanging up.

2002 Nissan Pathfinder tries to go into 4wd while driving

Because of the way you have described your problem, please act according to these instructions:
Please drive your Pathfinder at NO more that 10 miles per hour to a Nissan dealer, or please have it towed there.
Speeds greater than that, any such transmission malfunction can cause the vehicle to loose control and spin around or become unsteerable.
God bless your efforts.

Transmission will not shift into reverse

Sounds like the shop didn't do their job right. Call them and take it back if you paid to have it rebuilt. It should not be your problem to solve it. Work should be guaranteed, and if it isn't, you should take matter up in civil court.

My 96 ford escort automatic acts like it jumps to nueteral while driving until it reachs running temp

Have you tried to replace the transmission filter and flush the transmission? you could also have a bad torque converter clutch solenoid. I have a ford windstar van that does that and it does that. I found out that the torque converter clutch solenoid is bad.

My 1995 nissan pathfinder won't go into reverse. It acts as though it is in neutral. What would cause this?

Sounds like the transmission linkage is in need of repair. It's not a very expensive repair, but should be done by a qualified mechanic.
