Sounds like a faulty MAP sensor. When they are going bad they usually cause erratic idle. Up and down considtently. Check vaccum lines for leaks as well.
This could be a few things like low fuel pressure, vacuum leaks and even the engine control module. I would start with the simple things to check like air filter, vacuum leaks (check any vacuum lines for cracks) and a shop may be able to check the fuel pressure. If that's all ok, it might be the engine control module.

BEFORE YOU CHANGE IT CHECK FOR :-
STOP LAMP SWITCH AND ASCD CANCEL SWITCH CLEARANCE
1. Twist and pull to remove switch.
2. Pull up on brake pedal pad and hold.
3. Insert switch into retainer until switch plunger is completely depressed.
4. Turn the switch until it locks into place in the brake pedal bracket.
NOTE:
When turning the switch to lock into place, the switch backs off the stopper to the correct clearance automatically.

SOURCE: MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON YESTERDAY BUT MY 2004 NISSAN SENTRA
hi, most of the time when these lights come on, its because of some sort of sensor failure. if you are not experiencing any noises or tapping in the engine compartment, this is only a failed sensor. you will have to get it diagnosed by the computer to know what specific sensor it may be. i suspect maybe a O2 sensor or egr valve. this is minor but, you Will need to get this repaired if possible.
