Have Avital installed on my Dakota, was installed 5 years ago, now recently when I lock the doors with the remote the alarm goes off a few seconds later. So it worked for years without any issue, just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what could be the issue and how to fix?

SOURCE: My remote for my honda odyssey won't work, I

The following URL will take you to an on-line manual for your Odyssey. You will need Adobe Reader (free from Adobe) to read it, and you can't save it except in sections, but you could print out whatever info you need. The remote is covered on page 81 (go there from the index). You might check to see if you got the polarity right on the battery change, then it might become a matter or replacing the remote.

Lock door using key. only drivers side door locks remaining doors stay open. why?

I just answered this same question few hours ago...

The culprit is the foolish decisi?n of using a BCM (Body Control Module) to control the door locks with only two wires to the actuator on the lock. In order to "save" a few feet of copper wire, the too-intelligent automotive designers decided to use a costly, heavy, unreliable, complex electronic module instead of the third wire. Therefore, it now needs to multiplex the lock-unlock commands on only two wires. This BCM fails miserably in every Stratus or Sebring and Chrisler Minivans I've seen using this design approach.

As the BCM is VERY expensive and a real pain to remove from the dash, I resorted to disconnecting the wiring from the doors to the BCM, and paid a lot less to a car alarm installer, who installed an inexpensive car alarm with remote. Now I have to carry TWO remotes: the original one to set the original Chrysler alarm/inmovilizer, and the second to be able to remotely actuate the locks. It was much less costly (I saved about $350 USD) and a lot of pain to get the BCM from the car, additionally, I have heard that the repaired BCMs tend to fail again in a matter of two to three years after repair... sooo.

Best Luck. Amclaussen.

Open the trunk with the key, it will disable the alarm. You probably need a new door lock cylinder, which you should look into. They're easy to replace, but take a while to get, as they have to be coded for your key. You can also remove the door lock cylinder by loosening the t20 torx screw near the door handle until the lock cylinder slides out(DO NOT LOOSEN MORE THAN NECESSARY TO GET THE LOCK CYLINDER OUT), then use a flathead screwdriver through the hole to activate the lock.

Car in Park
Key on
push and hold unlock on good remote for 5 to 10 seconds
while holding unlock, press and hold panic, then release together

yes the remotes do have batteries. how ever that might be your problem or the remotes lost its code for programing. step when turning alarm off---- if its a factory alarm put the key in the drivers door when the door is closed and lock then unlock it thats the manuel shut down for factory. step 2------- aftermarket alarm. look for a valet switch most likely it would be installed by the driver kick panel or by the under dash fuse box. when u find it put the key into the ignition. turn it to the run position. within 3 seconds press and hold the valet switch for 3 to 5 seconds you should here a confirmation chirp and the led light will stay on solid and wont blink give it a world let me know what happens
