I get an error on the dash of my 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 about the tailgate being open. It is then impossible to lock the car with the FOB. The problem seems the arise only when I park the car in the sun (I live in Johannesburg). when the car cools down the error message disappears. Is it do do with some or other sensor on the tailgate?
You might try spraying inside of the latch with some contact cleaner. The latch contains the micro-swtich that signals the control module that the latch is made. It sounds like you are not getting a good contact at this switch. If cleaning doesn't work, you might need to have the latch changed.

Because this communicates on RF, I would suspect that there is loss of signal when overheated. I also am in AZ and see CAN buss and RF go down in heat. This time of year you should be able to leave it @ shop to recreate problem and then check for buss. After alll, it was 107 here ysterday.
SOURCE: Remote trunk wom't open. Car is in park.
sounds like a fryed switch in the trunk
it is only a pop switch in the trunk and they do break
SOURCE: went to hospital parked car came out key fob not
Im not sure there is any easy fix for this so I will just give a little advice.
Can you give me the make and model of the car? and is the alarm and immobilizer a standard factory one? Will do my best to help you once I know the make and model, and the year please.

Dan
SOURCE: Car doors won't lock because of an error message. What could the problem be?
Whenever
this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating
that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of
lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected
a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM,
SRS, TPMS and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You
must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool
and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for
the problem(s) Legend
of Abbreviations. ABS Anti-lock brake system. TCS Traction control
system, TCM Transmission control module, SRS Supplemental restraint
system, BCM Body control module. TPMS Tire Pressure Monitor System
