My 2008 2.9L chevy Colorado code p0017

My 2008 2.9L V4 Colorado, with around 135,000 miles, has the P0017 code on it and I cant get rid of it. The check engine light use to come on and go off, now it has been on and does not go off. I have replaced the Camshaft Position Sensor with ACDelco 213-4223, Crankshaft Position Sensor with ACDelco 213-4208, and the Camshaft Actuator Solenoid with Delphi SL10064. I used my code reader to reset the check engine light each time I put one of these parts in, and the check engine light comes back on within a day. I am not experiencing any rough idling with the truck, like other people have with the same code. I am stuck now on what to do. I am way past my inspection date, and do not want to have to pay the high fee's at a garage to have this looked at/or fixed. Any help would on what I should do next would be appreciated. my truck wont go into relearn mode we checked the chain it still looks good and is timed, we changed all the timing stuff 2 years ago. we replaced the Actuator with the gear, it was bad but we cant get the light off. we changed the oil 3 times the first 2 times with seafoam, so the oil is very clean. a car guy told me he has seen the o2 sensor cause that issue but that didn't do anything. the wiring looks good. what else cam I check?

Other possibilities:

  • Repairing or replacing the wiring connection to the camshaft sensor or the OCV
  • The oil control valve (OCV) has a restriction in the OCV filter
  • The engine may need to be decarbonized after repairs are made (seafoam might not be enough)

SOURCE: My car cranks but will

Try disconnecting the knock sensor see if it will at least fire if it dose replace the knock sensor. But the problem could be with the vehicle speed sensor mounted in the tail stock of the transmission. Bolth of these sensor create an ac voltage that the pcm uses as referance voltages to control the timing for the engine under differant opperating condutions and would tell the computer that there is a problem with the cam and crank pisition sensors at the same time. Ican't say for sure but it sounds like this vary well could be the source of your problem good luck

SOURCE: FAILED INSPECTION FOR CODE P0017 (CRANKSHAFT

I really don't think the oil change could have generated that Error Code.
I'd rather say the gasket should be replaced.
Take your baby to a good mechanic and have your engine inspected from A to Z. I'm almost sure the gasket generated the Code.

Good luck!

SOURCE: Im getting a P0017, P0014,

po300 is a general missfire code if i rember right. there is more than likely an install procedure that will require you to clear all cods ( even if there is no code preasent ) before you install the new part or failure of those parts can happen

P0017 For a 3.2 This is not designated only on the 4.5, This is mainly about the position this can be a mis positioned,or the rotor not positioned correctly, which is very common.you will need to check for a stretched timing chain

SOURCE: 2002 VOLVO S80 T6 CODE P0017

the word correlation means relationship between two or more items . In this case it means that when the crank shaft sensor is triggered then the camshaft sensor has to be in agreement that the position of the piston and valves is in the right position to allow spark and fuel.. there are air gaps between each sensor and the rotor that triggers them and if this is not correct or there is dirt in the air gap ( the sensors may be a bit advanced or retarded in the fitment holes) then this relationship of positions is being interfered with and so you get the fault code. If after rechecking the fitment of the sensors and using a scanner to put the engine light off ,you still have a problem ,I would suggest that you find an accredited shop the does a lot of work on your make of car to assist with the fault.

P0017 timing chain Chevy Colorado P0017 Case Study Part 1
155,000 miles This is not a DTC for the crank sensor . This is for variable valve timing .
DTC P0017: Crankshaft Position (CKP) - Exhaust Camshaft Position (CMP) Correlation Bank 1
The camshaft position (CMP) actuator system enables the engine control module (ECM) to change the timing of the camshafts while the engine is operating. The CMP actuator solenoid signal from the ECM is pulse width modulated (PWM). The ECM controls the CMP actuator solenoid duty cycle by controlling the amount of solenoid ON time. The CMP actuator solenoid controls the advance or the retard of each camshaft. The CMP actuator solenoid controls the oil flow that applies the pressure to advance or retard the camshafts.
Ignition voltage is supplied directly to the CMP actuator solenoid. The ECM controls the solenoid by grounding the control circuit with a solid state device called a driver. The ECM compares the camshaft position or the camshaft angle, to the position of the crankshaft.

Your a little out of your league on this ! Your best bet ,take it to a qualified repair shop !

• Inspect the engine for any recent engine mechanical repairs. An incorrectly installed camshaft, camshaft actuator, camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor, or timing chain can cause this DTC to set.
• An actuator that is in the full advance or retard position can cause this DTC to set.
• The presence of DTCs P0008 and P0009 along with P0016, P0017, P0018, and P0019 indicates a possible condition with the primary timing chain and the alignment between both intermediate sprockets and the crankshaft. Or, the crankshaft reluctor wheel has moved and is no longer referenced to top dead center (TDC).
• Observing the desired and actual camshaft angle parameters, with a scan tool before a DTC sets, may help to isolate whether a condition is specific to one camshaft, one bank, or caused by a condition with the primary crankshaft timing.

Possible Causes:

Important: The scan tool control of the CMP actuator solenoid is inhibited when DTC P0017 sets. The following conditions may cause this DTC to set:

An improperly torqued crankshaft balancer.A mis-built or mis-timed engine.A loose or missing crankshaft balancer bolt. The CMP actuator solenoid stuck open. The CMP actuator stuck in a position other than 0 degrees.

P00017 is not a valid OBD2 fault code. I will assume it should be P0017 which is a CKP sensor signal problem, this can be caused by a defective sensor, engine issues or wiring and PCM computer problems. Follow the link for more information the CKP fault code P0017.
