I used the chf11 German power steering fluid real expensive I used a kids medicine syringe
Assuming you are referring to the hydraulic fluid for the convertible top: there is a tank right at the pump in the right corner of the trunk. It has a 'min' level mark. I use the special Audi/VW power steering fluid CHF11S (green square tin can, starting to show up at auto parts stores now, $20 per liter or so).
Some fixya user told me a website reliable-store it is very good.. I used it to repair my shredder it had some spark issue which wasn't easily fixed. you can go there and try

If you lower the back seat you will see a plastic cover on the botom of the opening. Remove the cover (6 appolstry fasteners) to reveal a metal box. The box is not actually a box but a cover for the hydrolic pump. Remove the fscrews from the lid and lift. The resevouar is clear and easy to check against the two fill lines on the side.
SOURCE: is there a hydraulic reservoir that needs topping
Hello there:
Yes there is a hydraulic pump that has fluid in it.
depending on the unit you should be able to have the resivor topped off i would refer to the owners manual maintenance section for clarification it may be simply the hoses them selves are not tight or the seals are not tight and may be getting air in them ok
Best regards Michael
SOURCE: Anyone have a 2001 audi tt (convert.) Owners Manual?
Hello. I have a 2001 TT myself but my manual is in the glove box that broke. I do not access to it as replacing this item is almost 1,000 dollars. Look in Ebay for any year model up to 2006. They have the same information. Some manuals are for coupe. Not too many for the rag top. Small difference. You could order a new one from Audi as well but be prepared for a high price. Good luck.

Hi, You first have to remove the lower REAR seat cushion and seat back. Push IN lower seat cushion TOWARDS REAR of car and lift upward to remove. Located near lower center of back seat panel will be the convertible top mop motor and reservoir ( hydraulic fluid is used - trans fluid ). Black rubber plug is removed to fill reservoir. Necessary to fill, bleed (operate top), and refill. Almost all power convertible tops are electric over hydraulic. The electric motor runs a hydraulic pump. The pump pushes fluid to the cylinders that work the top. Most are located behind the rear seat backrest. Either remove the rear backrest or access the motor/pump from the trunk. It will be shaped like a cylinder. At one is the electric motor; at the other end is the hydraulic reservoir. At the end of the reservoir is a rubber plug. With the top down, remove the plug and fill it with tran fluid till it over flows. Replace the plug and cycle the top up and down as far as it will go. Repeat the process till it will take no more fluid. A turkey buster with a piece of vacuum line makes a good filler tool.
