SOURCE: my car wont start, 1997 vauxhall astra 1.7 turbo diesel

This sounds like a problem in the fuel shut off circuit. When you turn the key on, it energizes the fuel shut off solenoid on the injection pump. When you turn off the key, power is removed and the pump is moved by spring to the fuel off position. Check for power at this terminal when you are having a problem, ( with the key on) If no power then I would check the wiring and connectors from this connection to the Ignition key. I believe it is wired direct. That can be checked at http://www.alldata.com/products/index.jsp

subscribe3 and get a wiring schematic for the car and see if it is wired direct to the ign switch of from a relay, I am sure it is a connection problem if you have no power.

A 1.7 diesel even if turboed, is dead slow in any vehicle let alone a van. Enjoy the fuel economy

good luck

Mazda cx7,cranks but won't start

Yes, it is possible that the ECU could be the cause of your problem. If all the other sensors and components have been checked and are functioning properly, then the ECU could be the culprit. Check to make sure all the connections to the ECU are secure, and if the problem persists, then you may need to replace the ECU.

Is there a cut off switch on Isuzu nor v 8 gas 1999

v8, 1999 what?
cut off of what?
yes the ECU cuts off spark and fuel for many reasons,
on some cars there is an inertial fuel switch that trips in a crash
did you crash?
v8 gas or v8 diesel.? both are 2001 start date ,so?
what isuzu you have, name it.?
and if savvy , what country it resides.... they vary by that big time.

Wont start

which engine. of the 9.?
in what country.???
is it EFI fueling system or CARB????? we can not guess any of this.
http://www.fixkick.com/swift.html

great first post , no starts. a real symptom.
the presumption is, it cranks, ok and robustly.

the clutch switch on all cars, prevent starting this is A FEATURE.
key on, CEL lamps glows, if not fix that first.
the ECU needs power to run, 12v,, so check all EFI fuse.

on all engines. gasoline, there are 3 steps (and other oddities)
1: compression good on ALL cylinders. this is always first.
most skip this test, as its 30min easy work. but is 1st,
because it takes a good engine to burn fuel.
2: spark test spark on all cylinders. (do the 60k tuneup now , is a win)
3: fueling. (too much called flooding ,and too little or none.

The ECU cuts fuel if it suspects weak or no spark BY DESIGN.
prevents as seen on TV Crash and burns.

94 jeep has no spark at spark plug

94 GC ZJ body.
which engine option?
says you have no spark
so you read the fsm. on that.
on spark an fueling and the ASD relay.
no gas car runs with no spark and jeep cuts fuel if no spark is MONITORED as true, by ECU.

what a shop does,
is scan it , if no scan tool
he, uses one of the other 2 ways scan, called the blinking light deal.
i crank for 5seconds, and see if it stores, code, 11 or others.
click ZJ
click emmission
see chapter 25 on how to do flash CEL check engine tests.
the ECU will tell you if crank, cam senors are dead or they they are not dead but spark is.
if the ecu see any of those 3 errors, it cuts the ASD relay in 3seconds.

http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service

it take 2 people to do this.
person one keys start. and sees ASD close for 2seconds.
you key fast and person looks for spark
if no spark that means the ASD didnt close
1: if cam and crank DTCs didnt happen then its spark bad.
2: cam/and crank sensor pass. then no spark that means
the ignitor is dead or coil.
check spark at coil not spark plugs.... for better way.

why people get so confused here is that there is only 2 seconds
to see spark..
let me give a prime example here: (shows the ropes)
person 2 saw spark for 2 seconds, but the ECU saw the CKP crank sensor misfiring 1 out of 10 times. the ECU considers this bad
and cuts the ASD , killing ALL, and setting CKP dtc error
fix bad CKP.
see?
all 3 tests must pass or the ECU will cut the ASD.
the asd kills spark and fuel.
not just fuel.
tricky yes, but no crash and burn like seen on TV.

im not sure but this ECU might store all DTCs found cranking
some cars dont. store bad spark. only CKP and CMP bad.
the ECU does see the spark singles bouncing back from the ignition coil primary, if missing it cuts ALL>

My peugeot 206 diesel keeps cutting out, now it

In my opinion cut off problem occurs if engine is not getting sufficient fuel and/or air. Clean the air filter, turbo filter and fuel filter. Check the continuity of diesel flow from filter to hdi pump. If you haven't found any problem there then the possibily the hdi pump and injectors section needs to be checked. If the car has done more than 100000 miles then clean inlet and outlet manifolds including check of turbo and EGR valve. Do everything whatever possible before you take your car to garage. If there is no luck then let your car diagnosed and check any error code recorded by ecu.
