Question about Mitsubishi Montero Sport
Radio units when disconnected from the battery supply lock as an anti theft feature.
New units are usually supplied with the code in the paperwork it came with. With a used unit you will need the serial number marked on the side or the back of the radio. You can use this to find the code on lots of specialist websites.
Try more than one as some will charge for the service and others don't.

Call your local MItsubishi dealership and ask for the service department.
<BR>They have a computer program where they punch in the serial number from your radio (you have to supply the number) and it will tell them the UNLOCK CODE for your radio. My dealership offered to give it to me free over the phone, if I knew my radio serial number. Enter the code using the buttons on your radio. And write the code down, this will show up everytime your radio looses connection to its power source - the car battery.

Just changed my horns on my 98 Montero Sport and come to find out it was the horn relay. The horn relay is located near your power steering resivour its a small black square you will see some electrical lines running to it. Give it a couple taps and then try out your horn again. If that dosnt work your horns are located right behind your turn signals on your front bumper, they are circluar 3in and golden colored. You can get dealer ship replacement horns for 30 plus dollars or go to a autozone or advance auto and get aftermarket ones

The only way to get the code for the radio is to call the dealer with the vin number of the vehicle and possibly the serial number for the radio.

You will need the code to unlock the radio. First you must leave the key in the ON position for one hour with the radio display on.
The radio will shut itself off, and next time you turn it on "code" will be displayed again.
To get your code you need to pull your radio out to read the serial number, then provide that to your dealer for decoding, or present a question here with the serial number and we can decode it for you and instruct you how to input it.
