Hi Donna,
The most common problems with an engine that will not start are lack of fuel in the tank, water in the fuel, the fuel pump not working or there is no spark for ignition.
Realistically, if you know little about engines you need help from a mechanic or someone with knowledge. The only quick try you could apply is to turn on the ignition, then thump the fuel tank with a rubber mallet or your fist. If the pump is stuck, this might jar it into action, but you still need a mechanic to repair or replace the pump, as it is inside the fuel tank.
Good luck.

I'm assuming it's a 5 speed standard trans? If so, you could attempt it, but you'd need a lot of technical data before you try. Go to http://www.hmaservice.com/ and register your vehicle. After that, you'll have access to manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, etc.

Sounds like your alternator is bad, if car will stay running long enough to get over to an auto parts place where they can do an alternator test for free have it check or you can remove alternator and take it to them so they can test it. or with a volt meter start car remove jumper cables and check voltage at battery, should have no less then 13.5 volts, what your checking is alternator output voltage.

Sounds like you should see if the engine is frozen by trying to turn over the engine by hand with a torque wrench or gripping the belt.Make absolutely the new battery has a sufficient charge by using beefy jumper cables. make sure all your connectors are really clean and tight.
