I had the exact problem with my A4 2001 1,9 TDI but i just turned the car on, then first turned the steering wheel to the left as far as it goes, then to the right (i dont know if this is necessary but this is what i did). After i drove for few meters,the light went off and it worked normally.

there is 2 main battery's 063 and 065 yours would be the larger 065 battery just ask for this at the shop they will give you the right one.
