1. Make sure that the battery is fully charged.
2. Check the fuse for fuse # 30. This is the fuse for the:
Fuel Heater (Diesel only),
Wastegate Solenoid (Diesel only)
Injector Driver Module Relay Coil (Diesel only)
3. It is not uncommon for the fuel bowl heater (little wire in the bottom
of the fuel bowl) to go bad. If the fuse is burnt, you can pull the
small plug on the back of the fuel bowl to get around a bad fuel bowl
heater.
As far as fuel leaking, a common problem is the water separator valve
behind the fuel bowl. There are o-rings in there that tend to go,
especially now that we're burning the ulsd. Do a search on water
separator, and you'll find volumes of information and how-to's to swap
out the o-rings.There's other reasons that you could have a fuel leak, but that is where I would start first. And welcome to The Diesel Stop.
Hope these helps and have a great day!

SOURCE: starts first time, no smoke on normal running,
It could be a coolant or transmission fluid leak in the combustion chamber. Check your coolant and transmission fluid to see if one or both are low. White smoke from the exhaust is a classic symptom of a blown head gasket, have your cooling system pressure checked. If that checks out good then have your transmission checked.

White smoke is indicative of burning antifreeze, if your not using antifreeze then it is condensation when the motor starts however if it does it all the time and it's not cold outside you have another problem.
