Check fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge at the fuel rail. With key in "on" position, pump will run and prime the system.
Listen for pump function, on a 91 it's an inline pump under the car after the tank , in a cage with the fuel filter. If replacing the pump, do the filter at the same time.
Clean and check Idle Air Control valve, making sure it is not stuck in the "closed" position, with gunk.
