The second sensor for the catalytic efficiency just looks at what's coming through. If there were no codes for an oxygen sensor then the catalyst may be going. Not unheard of. If it's going bad the code will start coming back more frequent.

You will have to hook up a scranner to find out what code is showing.If the light is only blinking the (Problem) Is not that (Serious) If the light is on steady,End doesn,t blink,You have a (Serious) Problem, That should be check out (Imediately) I have a 2000 Hyundai Elantra.

Lets start with figuring out why the check engine light is on. You can get a blinkout of the the code by switching you key to the on and off position three times quickly and leaving it in the on position on the final time (note, do not take the key so far that it tries to start the engine). So start with the key in, and engine off, quickly turn the key to on, then off, then on, then off, then on and leave it there. Now watch your check engine light. It will blink out any codes that may be stored. The blinking will have breaks between each code and each code is a two digit number. For instance, blink short pause, blink blink, long pause, blink, blink, blink, pause, blink, blink, would be codes 12 and 32. I believe the final code is 55 and just simply means "end of codes". That should at least tell you if its an issue the ECU has detected. You can do a quick google search to find out what each code it spits out means. As for a guess as to why it isn't idling...I've seen everything from a failing fuel pump (inadequate pressure), to a clogged EGR valve cause this. Could be quite a few things unfortunately. Well, that's the check engine light I think. It is saying something is not normal. You can read out a trouble code to give you an idea of why it is on. Turn the ignition on, but engine stopped, and with a piece of wire bridge terminals TE1 and E1 in the service terminal box, at one rear corner of the engine compartment.

The check engine light will then blink. A steady blink 4 times per sec is "all normal".

Trouble codes are 2 digits, and these will be blinked - first digit - pause - second digit - repreat.

So the oxygen sensor fail code (a common one) is 21, and will show 2 blinks - pause - 1 blink - repeat.

There are 22 of these codes

the flashing light is telling you the engine is miss firing, not that there is fuel in the exhust a miss fire is the only thing that will cause the light o flash the P0300 is a random misfire so i cant tell you witch cylinder but replace the coils that should take care of it....good luck

First see what code is in the computer.Cycle the key three times and stop when it in the run position. The check engine light will start blinking. The first code should blink once then pause, then two blinks.This is showing that it is in the diagnostic mode. read all codes the same way, untill it starts with 12 again. Write them down. Then remove the negative cable from your battery post,after one minute, replace neg. cable. The light should be off.If it comes on again, it has set a hard code. You must repair whatever the codes indicate. Get a list of trouble codes online at Google.

you need to access the trouble code to better define the problem. insert key into ignition. you will need to turn the key to the position just before the engine cranks; the dash lights will be on. now turn the key back one click. You need to do this a total of 3 times ending in the on position( dash lights on-not cranking). Your trouble code will either show on the odometer( if it's digital) or will blink on the check engine light. count the number of blinks-pause-blinks etc. jot the numbers down. You can google the numbers to see what system is at fault.

That thing about the lights flashing, think about it. that happens only when you lock or unlock the car with remote to set and off-set the security system. Makes sense that your security system is in lock-out mode so nothing works, right?. Disable or reset your security system and you'll be fine.

if the check engine lught blinks it usually means you've got a lttle problem. steady could mean a bigger engine or transmission problem. My engine light came on, I had it checked it showed a huge vacuum leak. my gas cap needed replacing end of light.
