It was working at the flip of a coin for awhile but now? Nothing. I'm not exactly handy under the hood of a car so for anyone who may be able to assist me, please bear with me and be a little more specific than usual. Not having a horn is proving to be dangerous so I need this resolved. Thank you so much!
If you are new to working on cars, you need to take this to a shop. There is an airbag in your steering wheel and it can injure/ kill you. But I think the clock spring might be going bad inside the steering wheel.
Testimonial: "I did take it. The refused to look at it. Said too much work andif I want it done it will cost me hundreds. I almost got hit because a car did not see me and I did not have a horn to let them know I was there. Two other times a car baking out in a parking lot, another out of a drive way as if in a hurry and not looking - ea time I was almost hit. The shop wouldn't even consider the fuse or anything. My car was nearly out of warranty at the time so they were just waiting for that warranty to go so I would have to pay full value of labor/repair out of pocket. So as it is, I may get killed anyway."

SOURCE: 1997 Suburban and horn not working
behind the airbag is the horn switch i dont reccomend checking the the switch unless you know how to disarm the srs systems but i accidently leaned on it once pushed the plate in and when i pushed on it it went off but if i took my hand off it it would go back on otherwise their could just be a simple short
SOURCE: Change settings so horn does not honk when arming via remote
If this is even possible...which im not sure..you would be best goin to a dealer..and let them show you how to use your alarm remote..the BUMs show do it for nuffin..Good luck

Are you referring to the serpentine belt? That would be under the hood. Thats the black belt that is attached to the number of pulleys on the engine.

You can replace the horn. Check to see if the wires connected to the horn have power. Check with a test light. If power is present then the horns are bad.
