SOURCE: Check Engine Light 1996 Nissan Maxima

The best way is to use a scan tool to clear the codes, that will turn off the light, also disconnecting the battery over night may work, but no completely sure about that, it varies from year to year.

SOURCE: location of a o2 sensor 2001 nissan maxima

bank 1 refers to the side of the engine that #1 cylinder is on , and sensor 2 refers to downstream , after the catalytic converter. , this link shows bank 1 on a 2001 nissan maxima V6 being on the firewall side . if you had a 4 cylinder it would be downstream after the catalytic converter .

SOURCE: BMW X5 Trans Fail Safe Program,

sometimes it will clear if you turn the X5 off and restart it. however, it could be an early indication that the tranny is about to expire. i have had it happen and it cleared with a power cycle, but also had friends where it cleared for a few weeks/months and returned. this time it was really the transmission that went bad. if you can't get it to clear, then i'd suggest taking it to the dealer and have them plug into it to have a better look.

SOURCE: 2001 bmw 740il output speed sensor location

hello ryk786, i/m not a hundred percent certain, but I think the output speed sensor is located at the back of the transmission. With the pan removed, if you look at the valve body and see the EDS valves and connectors, look about 2 inches back toward the end of the case and you should see a connector by itself. There should be a retaining torx bolt and spring holding the sensor in place. After installing the new sensor, do not over-tightend the bolt. The torque should be around 5-6 Nm.

2001 Prelude. Changed out the speed sensor and after 20 miles it coded D4 again and speedo shut down and trans acted up. What now? On the first replacement I kept the original rotor in the speed sensor...

It is not the speed sensor at issue then, it is the wiring, try replacing the connector to the speed sensor, a common fault. Solder and shrink tube the repair connector to the harness. The dealer can supply a new connector, about $20.00

I have a 1990 Maxima, Trans. not shifting out

your transmission is in limp mode. you will need to replace the speed sensor the two are tied together. more than likely you will need the output speed sensor on the transmission.

95' Nissan Max trans is losing gears!! is it a sensor or maint.

Most likely maintenance. If the fluid is low or very used it will cause shift t issues. Tech note if you are already losing gears just changing the fluid may not solve the problem. I recomend you tyake it to a trans shop for proper check out.
