SOURCE: My 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart fan stays on

I had the same problem about a year ago. This turned into a problem of the fan NEVER turning on. My car overheated and my radiator burst on the freeway. Turns out that there is a fan controller mounted behind the radiator that had gone bad. This same part was RECALLED on the 2003 Lancers... seems they still didn't get it right in 2004.

SOURCE: mistabishi verada wont start 2002

The first place to start is at the power source. Is the battery good? Does it make any noise when turning the key? It may be something as simple as a dead battery.Check your battery for a full charge before you go any further.

SOURCE: Hi, my car is 52 plate ford fiesta finesse my

Hi Kara,

Get the oil changed. You don't want water or coolant mixed with the oil as it will turn the oil milky and is not supposed to be mixed with oil.

Since you're always adding coolant - it must be leaking somewhere. This is not good. Hopefully, it is just a leak from a hose or similar ($). Look at the ground where you park. If it is spotty with marks - it may be dripping over night. Park in an area that is clear of these marks - or slide a large piece of cardboard under the engine over night. That way you can see if you have a leak dripping on the ground or cardboard. If it is not showing up over night - it could be a bigger deal.

It could either be a leak thru a cracked engine block ($$$ - $$$$) or gasket ($$) into the engine oil (changing it out with fresh oil will tell you if it is leaking into the oil if it turns milky in color) or into one of the cylinders and is mixing with gas while the engine is running. When this happens, the water is super heated and appears as white smoke - but is really just steam - at the exhaust pipe.

This is going to cost a few bucks to fix - but it could also be a game changer as far as whether you fix the car and fix it or sell / trade for another depending on whats wrong and how much the car is worth.

Good luck!

SOURCE: car leaks coolant but does not overheat leaks alot

find out where the coolant is leaking from, a minor leak could become a major leak at the wrong time. check your hoses. how much coolant are you having to replace. If you don't see where the water is leaking from try warming the care up or looking for the leak after you car has been driven. Be very careful hot water can cause serious burns.

SOURCE: lancer revving when it gets real hot

I have the same problem and have racked my brain over this it turned out to be the throttle cable sticking.  My guess is that the rubber sleeve is heating up and causing the cable to bind.

How to replace the thermostat in a 04 lancer

the thermostat is on the rear of the cylinder head above the gear box and is connected with the upper radiator hose. Drain the radiator coolant by loosing on the low part of the radiator the plastic butterfly drain plug, and let the coolant in an empty bowl. Then by using a 12mm socket loose the bolts on the thermostat flange and remove it.When the thermostat housing removed you will see the old thermostat, pull it out and clean the old gasket Renew the thermostat and use a new gasket, put the flange back on and tight it, Fit the radiator hose and tight the jubilee clip. Then loose the 12mm bleeding bolt which is on the thermostat housing, start filling the radiator with a new coolant until the air comes out of the bleeder and close it. then start the engine and let it in idle with radiator without the cap. When temperature raised to some warm point put the radiator cap and leave it idle till fan starts. Then switch engine off and let it cool down and check the radiator coolant level and the expansion tank fill it to maximum level.

I have a 2004 nissan maxima. Every time rev the

Air can get trapped in your heater core. Sometimes you can use a floor jack and raise the passenger side of the vehicle, start the car and leave it running until the coolant cycles and the fans come on then rev the engine a few times to 2500 - 3500 rpm and let up. If this won't push the air through then you may have to remove the upper heater hose while the engine is running and let the air out. Probably a little harder than it sounds. I believe there also may be a coolant bleeder at the top of the intake where the coolant flows to the radiator. Crack that open with the engine idling.
I hope this helps.
