SOURCE: how to remove and replace Tata Indica gearbox

not a bad little car i think, done one last year for a new clutch and i it was that easy that i honestly do not remember having any problems with it ,only one tip i will offer though and i do this on all motors and thats to drill a hole in the bellhousing with a hole cutter big enough to get a 10mm socket 1/4 drive through the hole to tighten the clutch bolts ,getting to old to struggle now so i make a hle that aligns up with the clutch bolts then fit bolts holding the clutch finger tight then once the box goes in nice and easy as the clutch plate can move a bit then two big bell housing bolts in and then rotate the flywheel twic tightening the bolts one by one .easy better than hurting ones back with a struggle

Need info on tata indica lei 2009 timing marks on cam pulley as there iis none to be seen, whenengine is set to tdc on crank shaft

Is yours the 1.4 petrol? Yes? Try the diagram below. The cam mark is positioned at the 3 o'clock position when at TDC. If it doesn't line up try turning the Crank pulley through One complete turn. This will turn the cam through half a turn.

How do i check timing marks on tata indica lsi

The timing marks are notches on the engine block and all the pulleys that the belt goes around! Before removing the belt make sure all pulleys are in line with there mark! If not sure contact your local mechanic!

Fuel pump blocked

Fuel pump in indica typically gets blocked or leak after around 50k kms. It could be due to bad fuel use for a long time or due to the resident problem with the pump itself.

My Indica Diesel too had the same problem. The pump has to be removed and cleaned by TVS (who makes the pumps). You can get the pump removed from a local mechanic and take the pump yourselves to a vendor in the locality. IN Bangalore you have many vendors repairing TVS fuel pumps in JC road. If you take it to a TATA authorized service center, it may cost you around 40% more cost than the direct vendor. TATA also takes the pump to TVS to get it repaired. You can rather do it yourself.

Tata indica Timing marks

On. An Indica petroll or diesel there aren't aany timing marks as to say, firstly remove cylinder head, then attach a power bar or ratchet with socket to to bolt on crank shaft pulley. Rotate the engine anti-clockwise until piston one is at TDC (highest point it can go). Then at Te front of engine halfway down the block where engine meets bell housing there is a hole to. Insert a 8mm long bolt, this will lock the crankshaft. On the head on the cam shaft end cap is a hole, insert a screwdriver to fit and rotate cam with. A ratchet until the screwdriver slots in place and the cam cannot move. Replace the head, torque the bolts, fit the timing belt and tension it. Once this is done remove the locking bolt and screwdriver, Replace the cam-tappet. Cover and start the engine
