I presume you mean 'grinds when I turn the ignition..(to start)'.
If this is so, it's most likely the starter motor 'drive (overun) clutch is faulty.

Either replace the starter motor complete or replace the drive clutch assy on the original.
The latter should be cheaper (especially if you can source a new 'drive clutch' and fit it yourself).

After replacing the timing belt and resetting the timing correctly all of the sudden there is NO FIRE to the system from the battery. The car will turn over but no spark.NEED HELP, if anyone has an ide

Breeze, 4 cylinder: check fuse # 5 (20a), fuse #1 (10a), fuse # 10 (10a)- in the power distribution box. Check for power to the coil on the dark green wire with orange stripe. If power there, test the coil. If coil is good, suspect the cam position sensor or the crank position sensor.
Breeze, 6 cylinder: check fuse # 5 (20a), fuse # 10 (10a). Check for power to coil on the dark green wire with orange stripe. If no power to coil, try a new or known good Auto Shutdown Relay (in the power distribution center). If still no power to coil, may be a problem in wiring harness. If there is power to coil, and still no spark, test the coil. If coil is good, suspect the cam position sensor (in the distributor), or the crank position sensor. If all check good, may be a problem in the wiring or the pcm (computer).
Good luck.

No juice to coil

The first step you will want to take is to check all the fuses in the black fuse box next to the battery. Let me know what you find and if no blown fuses we can move on to step 2.

No electrical current from battery where are fusible links

I realize this is a very old post, but I just encountered the same problem....no juice at all to ignition from battery......the problem was the 3 weird looking fuses attached to the positive battery cable. I replaced all 3 for about $12.00 and she fired right up. Some models have a fuse box/panel....mine does not, and these 3 fuses are critical for getting current to the ignition.
I'm sure by now you have it figured out, but for anyone in the future, this may help.

I have a 1990 buick lasabre and not getting any fire to my spark plugs. there is no fire to the plug wires at the coil pack. i've got a knew coil pack, module, and crank shaft sensor and still no fire. can...

If those three items are replaced and it still doesn't fire up, look for a possible computer problem.
Or, look for a broken wire or fuse for the ignition system.

Good luck on this repair.

When starting it dies out now it wont do anything

first thing check under the hood at the fuse/relay box. unsnapthe top and look under lid for correct fuse. if fuse is blown the replace it,if not then have someone to turn key switch over to start position and u put your finger on top of the starter relay to check for a clicking sound.if that is good then check the coil with an inline tester for fire to the spark plugs. if no fire from coil then replace coil. also check battery to see if it is completely discharged. hope this will help!!!

My saturn SL2 died at idle...and now wont crank over...there is juice to the starter and the battery has 13.1 volts

Any starter clicking noises? Try moving the shifter to "N" neutral and try starting the car.
IF that is not successful, find the starter relay in the under-hood fuse box, replace the relay with an identical relay from the under-hood fuse box and see if it will start. This will then eliminate the park/neutral start switch and the starter relay.
Let me know what you find.

No juice to the distributor

I would go back and get it on TDC and see where your rotor is. Make sure you have it in time. Then you can run a hot wire from the fuse box to the distributor that would be hot only with key in on position. That should get you running, after that if you wanted to trouble shoot your old wire or just leave it with new, and tape up old wire just in case.
