My airbag light has been flickering, and now it is staying on constant. Took it to a shop where they ran a scan and got code 27, and a readout of "DRIVER SQUIB CIRCUIT #1 OPEN"

Take it to a shop! DO NOT mess about with an airbag if you are not qualified to do so!! Air bags are a VERY dangerous thing to mess with if you don't know what your doing! Remember airbags contain an explosive charge and are designed to fully inflate in 0.04 of a second. That's faster than you can blink!
If the light is staying ON there is an issue with the airbag system. Clearing the light does not make the problem go away. Some warning lights will not turn off or will simply turn back on when the ignition key is used again until the issue is repaired.

I experienced the same type of issue with my Corolla and I took it in and turned out it was a connection that had come loose. Also, check to see if there are any recalls for your airbags or sensors. That was another issue that mine had.

Has to be reset woth a scan tool that is airbag capable. If it is on due to a fault condition it will not stay off until the fault is corrected. Same scan tool can retrieve the codes. Some parts stores have scan tools that read airbag codes if not most repair shops will do it for a small fee.

Best way to address this is to get a scan of the car either by a repair shop or some parts vendors such as autozone offer a free scan. Today's airbag systems are simply too complex to work on by trial and error.

Could be a problem with the airbag itself or could just be a faulty crash sensor. Need to take it to a shop that has a scan tool that will read airbag or SRS codes. Most handheld scanners can't read them.

The flashing light means there is a problem with the SIR system. When the light stays on the system is disabled.
You will have to take it to a shop to get it scanned to find out the problem.

You would need to have someone scan the body computer for trouble codes. The warning light is telling you there is a problem with the system.

Your correct in that a dealer is only for warrantee work
After that, it is too expensive,so a repair shop is you only choice

Can not guess at your vehicle issues,but a clock spring is a
possible cause

Any decent repair shop should be charging $75.00 or more,
just to take the scan tool out,to check for codes etc. That is a
piece of equip that costs from $2,000 to $10,000, so someone
has to pay for it.

Then you have parts, if necessary & labor

Your going to spent up to a $1000 a year to maintain any vehicle

this car needs to scanned for computer codes, the scanner must be capable of scanning asian codes,get back to me when you get the codes
