I have a GMC Envoy and was installing a sound system. However, when installing, I accidentally touched the positive power wire to the negative wire and shorted some stuff in my car. Most stuff still works but the interior lights do not turn on and neither do the dash lights. I'm assuming this is the same fuse because the knob in my car that controls the dash brightness also controls the interior ceiling lights brightness.

SOURCE: 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue security light on/power only sometimes

I don't know about GM, but some Ford have a interlock type system that will not let the car start untill the security system is deactivated by the remote. If you have the remote then try hitting the unlock button a couple times with the doors shut and then try starting it.

When dash lights don't work odds are the tail lights don't work either.Sounds like Dimmer switch may be a problem.

I have a 2008 gmc sierra, trying to wire in power acoustik wmh7-s1. It has power and everything works but doesn't have sound?

If your 2008 GMC Sierra has power and everything works but you don't have sound from the Power Acoustik WMH7-S1 after wiring it in, here are some steps you can follow to try and troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the wiring: Make sure all the wires are properly connected and tightened. Confirm that the ground wire is securely connected to the vehicle's chassis.
  2. Check the fuses: Make sure the fuses for the audio system are not blown. Check both the main audio fuse and the subwoofer fuse if applicable.
  3. Check the speaker wiring: Confirm that the speaker wiring is correct, with the correct polarity (positive to positive, negative to negative).
  4. Test the head unit: If you have a multimeter, you can use it to test the head unit's output voltage. The voltage should be between 11 and 14 volts DC. If the voltage is too low, the head unit may not be providing enough power to the speakers.
  5. Check the speakers: If you have a multimeter, you can use it to test the speakers. Confirm that they have continuity, and that the speaker wiring is not damaged or shorted.
If you've tried these steps and are still experiencing issues, you may want to consider consulting a professional to help diagnose and resolve the problem.

Where is the instrument cluster fuse located on a 2003 GMC envoy

54752b68-047c-4672-aa63-0af60f50167e-igczjolfejqks5pyrjqgp42l-6-0.jpeg The main fuse that controls the entire fuse box is what I found worked for me on my 2003 GMC Envoy. I accidentally touched my wrench to the left side of the fuse while hooking the negative up on my battery causing all my interior lights, radio, a/c etc. to not work. It's only $4.99 at advanced auto. Took me awhile after checking every damn fuse in the car and not finding anything. Hope this helps

How do i reset the service engine soon light?

On most gm you remove the positive and negative posts from battery and touch them together for at minimum 15 minutes. This will clear computer of codes but if you have a problem it will come back.

2006 GNC Envoy...frequently get static/electircal noise through sound system. Touching /pushing on real heat/air console causes it to stop. May recur seconds, minutes, hours or days later.

Hopefully its just some wires that has came loose and/or touching. Is it only happening when playing the radio or cd's to? Im having the same problem with mine but i really just don't care. I dont listen to the radio that much. I might mess with it when I have to replace my heater core.
