If it is only whistling when the engine is running and you are not moving/driving it most likely is the fuel pump, next possibility could be a small exhaust leak.

This is a normal thing and nothing to worry about. Most electric fuel pumps make a whining noise. Some are louder than others and it is nothing to worry about unless you notice it getting much louder then normal.

SOURCE: i have a 2001 saturn ls and the fuel pump want

The pump has power, but does it have a ground? I've never seen a fuel safety cut off switch on a Saturn before. Usually those switches cut power to the pump and if you verified that it has power then you can rule out the possibility of a switch being tripped. Did you change the whole module or just the pump? How did you verify that the pump is still not working?

SOURCE: has a whistling noise coming from fuel tank. check

It is whistling because there is pressure buildup in the gastank. The pressure relief valve is probably plugged up and malfunctioning. With incorrect pressure in the fuel system, the check engine light is being triggered. The code p1443 is reguarding the Evaporative Emmissions Control System. Hope this helps good luck.

New fuel pump in 01 blazer making humming noise

No Fuel Pumps do Humbbbb, and some loudly, although you probably left the rubber/insulator for noise absorbtion off the pump. The new ones usually dont come with this, unless you get the whole assembley. It's just a rubber piece that wraps around the pump motor nicely and ablorbs that Hummbbbb.. Time to drop the tank again. I hate when I do that..

If you car is equipped with a security system try resetting it using your remote from outside the car wait a couple of minutes and use the remote to unlock the car, then try starting it, sounds like a security system error.

When my car is running their is this whistling noise which comes from the gas tank. what can that be?

Hello albertdavido: My name is Roger and I will help you. The noise you hear should be the fuel pump running. If the noise is excessive i would suggest replacing the fuel filter. When the fuel is restricted the pump will be exceptionally noisy. Should you need further help lease just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for trusting and using Fix Ya .Roger

My 1991 saturn has no gas at filter zero gas flow what do i check 1st

First make sure you have lots of gas in the tank, between a quarter and half. Turn the ignition on and listen for a humming or buzzing noise coming from the tank. The fuel pump should run for a few seconds. If there is no noise you will have to check for a blown fuse. No bad fuses, change the fuel pump.
If the pump runs, remove the fuel line from the tank end of the filter and turn the key on for a secoond or 2. If there is lots of fuel then replace the filter. If fuel just dribbles replace the pump.
If you have to work on the fuel pump, make sure the electrical connections are not corroded and are not loose. Also check the rubber hoses at the connection. Sometimes they will go soft and collapse, plugging the fuel line. Make sure you put the fuel lines back on properly. Hope this helps.

2001 escape

sounds like you may have to replace your fuel filter is it origional or have you replaced it before ? if the fuel pump is screaming then there is usually a restriction in the line sometimes caused by dirty fuel filter , its also possible that the electric fuel pump is on its way out they will screem when they are ready to retire first replace fuel filter and monitor the sound if it comes back after replacing the filter then you will need to have a pump replaced .also check the level of fuel in your tank when you hear the noise sometimes the level of gas in the tank drops leaving the fuel pump unsubmerged in the fuel making it easier to hear the noise follow me . replace fuel filter and diagnose the sound from there thanks for using a fine web tool like fixya
