Camshaft and crankshaft at both locked with timing pins only one position fuel pump does not need locking off.

If I recall the timing marks are on the top section of the transmission housing. There's a small half circle cutout and you'll see them imprinted on the flywheel.

Check the wiring harness. Sounds like it has come in contact with the break assembly and is shorting out. Look for exposed wiring where the cover has worn off coming in contact with the break. Tape all exposed wiring and be glad you haven't had a small fire.

the only other thing to check would be the cables to the shifter. they need to be checked when you have the problem, casing could be swelling when its hot

If you havn't got the belt off yet mark the belt to the cam gear & crank gear & balance shaft if it has one with liquid paper. remove belt, transfer marks to new belt, refit new belt so all marks align & it can't be wrong.
