It started fine a few minutes ago but the seat did not move like it normally does and the service engine soon light was on. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I just got a very expensive new battery a year ago so it shouldn't be that. I left the doors unlocked after the last time the alarm went off and it hasn't gone off since it's been about 30 minutes or so. Thanks!
SOURCE: service engine soon & brake light stays on
the service engine light is prob due to the oxygen sensor being damaged, not replace or you having the catalytic converter taken off---just messing with you. start at auto zone and have then do a free code read then go from there. you should troubleshoot the low fluid level switch for your brake fluid. unplug it and see if the light goes off and if it doesn't jump the two terminals on the harness. oh the car will have to be running. Let me know [email protected]

If your battery starts turns the engine over, it is doing it's job well. It sounds like your engine computer is not liking the cold engine. If it has been a while since a tune up, it would not hurt to go ahead and do it, but if it runs ok after it warms up, I sould not worry about it a whole lot. When the engine is cold, the egr valve and other things that are made to limit polution tend to stick and give the computer bad readings. A serious tune up may fix it, and I think should, but you MAY still be in the same boat! That does not FIX it for you, but should ease your mind on the light.

u have to take the fuse out of ur car. then try to start it. go to ur fuse box and look at the alarm # then take it out n it should start for u.
SOURCE: 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee alarm keeps randomly going off.
this happened to me recently with my 96 grand cherokee. the battery got drained by the alarm going off randomly at night. i pulled the fuse for the horn so at least my neighbors would only be bothered by flashing lights. then i couldn't jump the car because the alarm was still going off. i hooked my car to jump it to another car, and then i had to deactivate the alarm first by putting my key in the driver side door and unlocking the car. then i left it hooked to another car and still getting power but didn't jump it for at least 5 minutes in case the computer needed to reset. then it jumped fine. from what i've read online, this is a common problem that can be avoided if you stop using the power locks and always manually lock and unlock the doors with your key. its a little annoying, but apparently the power locks are connected to the alarm issue. hope the same works for you.
