I didn’t read all the way through. It sounds like you understand how a relay works. Are you getting a signal for the coil side of the relay? Should one from the ECM.

SOURCE: ran out of gas, car wouldn't crank replaced fuel pump, fuel relay, and in line fuel filter and still won't crank on 2002 chevy avalanche

still won't crank ? how's your battery ? starter ? starter solonoid ? if your engine does'nt crank , its dead ! would'nt you check the battery first ? then move on with checking the starter circuit ? seems like your putting the cart before the horse ! first of all, when you run out of gas, you need to replace the FUEL FILTER, your engine just sucked the dirt, garbage, etc., out of the tank. there's plenty of sediment in the tank, don't know how it gets there, but, you'd be surprized ! talking threw experience !!! I operate heavy equipment, its a cardinal sin to run out of fuel !!! you say you replaced the inline filter, which one, up by the engine or the main filter, under vehicle along frame ? are we talking about the same animal, PLEASE CLARIFY !

The location of the fuel pump cut off switch on a 2005 Chevy Cobalt ?

There isn't one.
What testing have you done?
Make sure battery has a full charge. If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse. If your missing everything check for rpm signal. Any applicable trouble codes?
When you first turn on the key, no crank, can you hear the fuel pump run for a couple seconds? There is a fuel pump fuse in underhood fuse box.

2006 ford 5.4 ran out gas now wont start

could be the fuel pump blew a fuse (if it has one). turn key on but do not start and see if you can hear the pump for about a half second.

2005 Silverado won't start

Assuming this is a crank no start, open the gas cap, put your ear to the fuel fill as close as possible. Have an assistant turn the key on, you should hear the pump turn on for approximately 2 seconds. If it does not, have the assistant crank the engine while you hit the bottom of the fuel tank with a hard rubber mallet. Sometimes this will jar the pump enough for it to run.

Have a 2005 chevy colorado, ran it out of gas and now after fueling it it won't start. when you turn the key i don't hear the fuel pump. is there a fuse or a switch to push to reset it?

I would start by replacing the fuel filter. And if that doesn't work ? listen for the fuel pump when you turn the key on. If you don't hear the fuel pump go on when the ignition is set to on (Just before turing the engine over) ? Check the relay or the fuse. Its not ever a good idea to run any vehicle low on fuel. Could cause a number of problems. but it sounds like fuel filter got clogged and sucked up all the junk at the bottom of the tank.
