4R70W is the transmission that is in the unit. There are several you tube videos on servicing the valve body. You might want to look at those, you could take the part to a transmission shop for assistance or you can look for the manual.

Start car and use a squirt bottle of water to wet the wires and coil, if you see it spark or run rough one or both are bad, repair the wires first as they are more common.

SOURCE: how can i change fuel filter in my grand marquis

you will need the proper Quick Disconnect tool, Look on the Frame rail for the filter, remove filter from the spring type retainer, remove the safety clips on the lines but not remove them completely, insert the disconnect tool & push into the fitting of the fuel line, push line & tool into eachother then pull filter away from line, if not done properly you will have a big problem putting the line back on

SOURCE: how much transmission fluid does a 1999 Grand Prix

Transmission fluid does not have to deal with nearly the number of problems engine oil has to, with heat, water, acids, grit, etc., so it is not at all critical. In the old days, Ford always had a different fluid because they used different material for seals. But these days the all the fluids sold are great.

As to how much, that depends. There will only be about 4 quarts in the pan and transmission, but the total is more than twice that, and it can very anywhere in between, depending on how much fluid drains down from the torque convertor. It has a little flap that is supposed to stop drainage, but it always leaks down slowly anyhow. So there is never any set amount. You just have to estimate how much came out, put that much in to start, and keep checking and adding, with the engine running.

1996 Mercury Grand Marquis wipers don't work. I changed the motor and the fuse isn't blown

You need to take the plastic cowls off that cover the wiper arm linkage and wiper transmission to inspect it...cowl is held on with 3 Phillips screws near windshield and some one inch wide metal clips, take off the gasket that fits on top. If both are not working check the transmission where linkages attach, if one wiper blade is not working it is usually the drivers side where the nylon bushing that forns a ball/socket sort of connection fails due to build up of debris and the rusting of parts that follows, let me know if this helps.

I need to check and put in transmission fluid in my 1999 grand marquis

Under the hood there will be a dipstick marked for transmission. You need to check the fluid level while the engine is running. If you need to add fluid, you use a funnel and pour the fluid in through dipstick tube.

When do I service my transmission

It is recommended to change your transmission fluid and filter every 30,000 miles. It could probably go over a few hundred miles but I don't risk it in my car.

How do you change the transmission fluid on a 2000 Mercury Marquis?

you must drop the pan on the transmission, and I recommend draining the torque converter as well. you must rotate the engine by hand until the converter plug is visible in the access hole in the transmission. replace the filter and re-use the gasket if its the reusable factory gasket ( has hard inserts around each bolt hole) then re-fill the transmission through the filler tube on the right side of the engine compartment. be sure to use Mercon V fluid.

My 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis will not go into reverse and the over drive does not work either what does that mean?

It sounds like your transmission need to be serviced, rebuilt or replaced.
Smell your fluid to see if it smells nasty and burned.
You can try to change the fluid and change the filter,if you do and it remains the same you need transmission service.
