It is called a tip-tronic shifting. When stopped or when driving tap the + to shift into the next gear or the - to downshift. Like you would in a standard transmission only you don't need to have a clutch to depress. That is the simple definition ob it

Use the + and - to shift up or down through the gears when driving if you want to.

SOURCE: what does the plus/minus button on the chevy malibu shifter do?

Hi there,
I suppose its a sports mode function where the + enables you to upshift and the - to downshift.
Try using this mode when you are driving as you might like it if you used to drive manual cars before...
Cheers

2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Yesterday automatic gear shift seemed tight. Check transmission fluid. Fine. Won't release from park today. Is there a shift release button? I can't find it.

Foot on the brake before you shift
Lift up lightly on the shifter and wiggle
If nothing pull the center console and check the shifter to see what is in the way

Plus minus gear shiftjeep

I is used for the automanual mode. You move the shifter over an tap it up or down to change gears. I personally never used it. Guess it could help in snow. but my commander has never had trouble in the snow

2001 mitsubishi eclipse. Automatic transmission

Transmission may be low on transmission fluid or the transmission fluid pump failed. If it's electrical, you can still get it in to gear, but would not shift gears. Good luck and keep me posted, check transmission fluid level and have the transmission line pressure tested. Before that check all your fuses.

I have a 2001 eclipse and i can't find the transmission filter to change it. i just bought the car.

Hello. Stop looking. The transmission filter on the older eclipses was changed. The 2001 has an internal screen pickup. It is not servicable unless the transmission is disassembled. There is no reason to service it.

What do the settings S-D and plus minus on trasmission shifter m

The plus and the minus allows you to "manually" shift the automatic transmission; sort of like a manual transmission, without a clutch......minus = downshift, + = upshift.
Just put it in "D" and drive on.
