Have a 1994 Ford tempo and it's been driving normal for most part but then when I started car today it would shift into second after i pudgy gas extra hard to engage and then I'll reach 45 -50 mph and car will not switch into third at all. I don't have alot of money to fix car. Very important I fix though because it's my only way to work and back. Does anyone have any ideas?

SOURCE: 1994 ford tempo; vehicle upshifts late, won't

Sounds like your transmission is on the fritz. Try changing the fluid and filter see if that helps. If that doesnt try a can of anti slip from any good parts place (Napa). If this dosent help it's time for a rebuild on the transmission

SOURCE: car sputter pressing gas pedal

Check the fuel pressure and flow , if the flow is low replace fuel filter. if pressure is low , check fuel pressure regulator, if ok replace fuel pump, also check vacuum to fuel regulator as this enriches fuel under acceleration.

How to repair transmission on 1994 ford tempo

Parts will cost you more than the car is worth, on just the rebuild. Hard parts for the trans are way more. Just taking care of the problem will cost you way too much money. On just pulling the transmssion too many times.

I have a 1994 ford tempo that has issues shifting. It starts fine goes into all gears . it shifts from first to second gear at 35mph then shifts again at 45mph. What could be the issue? I changed the...

You may need a transmission shop for this.
Some older cars used a vac modulator to control shift time, but I don't see one listed for a 94 Tempo. Whatever Ford uses to control shift time may be faulty, or the kickdown cable to the throttle body may be sticking. It could have a solenoid inside that does what the modulator once did.

Ihave a 1991 tempo. when i went to start it today it would not shift out of park. the steering wheel still moves but the gear shift wont. any idea what could be wrong

Could be a faulty brake light switch, or the solenoid for the shifter lock.
You may be able to shift it out of park if you unlock the steering wheel but not turn the key to On.

Ford Tempo 1993 transmission problem

I want you to check something. there is 2 cables on the throttle body. 1 cable is to the gas pedal and the other is your a kick down cable . the kick down down in the front of the transmission if you look under the battery it does in the front of the transmission there. see if the kick down moves easy if you open the throttle body by hand. the problem with those transmission is it relis on the cable the shift the gears up . if you steped on the gas pedal that cable is to pull levers inside to up shift. there is not shift solenoids in those transmission. see many in my shop
