SOURCE: My 2005 dodge neon made a clunk noise and then the

Your problem would appear to be something amiss in the rear brake on the locked wheel. If a wheel sylinder was leaking the brake shoes would become "sticky" and cause the shoes to "lock on" to the drum. Or if the brake was out of adjustment, the assembly could come apart and pieces of it jamb the wheel. This problem is fairly common with drum brakes. You need to have the rear brakes serviced, & checked for fluid or grease on the braking surfaces. All leaks fixed, backing plates cleaned, the wheel cylinders overhauled, & the brake shoes replaced.

Thud Thud Thud noise from centre rear back undercarriage of my 2005 dodge grand caravan. Can this be the rear differential? Veh only has 80000 kms.

Your Caravan has no rear differential. The van is a front wheel drive, you may have a bad brake or your spare tire under the back of the van is lose. the other thing to look for in the back is the rear shocks could be broken or lose. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help get your van running 100% again soon.

just as your mechanic said it is the overrunning clutch case and you might be able to save it by changing the fluid in it and adding an additive we alway use the limited slip additive made for GM and it has gone away within 100 mile of driving. what this clutch does is links the front to the rear axel and if your tires do not match in size (overall diameter) this clutch has to work over time. and wil ruin this clutch . so check your tires first and hope the additive will save your clutches. good luck

I have a 2005 grand caravan that makes a clunk noise when I put it in park. Should I be concerned? It has 62000 miles on it.

check the front engine mount. it is probably worn.
have someone shift from reverse to drive to reverse to drive while holding their foot on the brake. if the mount is bad the engine will rock back and forth as the gears are shifted. i have a 1988 caravan and it is just a few bolts to replace it. the mount i bought last week cost $17
