normally this would be noticed by bad performance in the car in the way the engine acts when you push on the gas peddle normally a fuel pump needs two things to work the relay and the fuse if either two stops working you may notice decreased performance of the car's engine or that it refuses to run at all
There are so many cheap replacement fuel pumps being sold that are no good, I would use a test gauge to insure you have correct fuel pressure. If OK, there test for good spark at plugs and run compression test.
