First I would check the fluid level. Second I would check to be sure that the shift cable/linkage is not bound or separated. Chock the wheels and have someone step on the brake while the engine is off and shift the transmission while a second person views the side of the transmission from below. Make sure the linkage is functioning. I would need further details from that point.

I've done three drain and fills swap out sspca and sspc D I pulled the bulkhead connector off the side of the transmission put it into limp mode still nothing Park transmission line pressure is 30 PSI

I can do deeper research on the am however poor of failed grounding can also prevent it from engaging.

So would taking a set of jumper cables and grounding one to the frame and the other to the t case rule out it being a bad ground causing it?

  • Ron Tracy Feb 23, 2019

Unfortunately that will not solve the grounding issues a stable grounding system throughout the vehicle is the only way to assure that you are getting proper ground. Some rebuilders add an additional grounding strap to the case of the trans. But several sensors in the vehicle help the transmission to get proper signals like the APPS, TPS, MAPS, and MLPS. Making sure these are clean and functioning properly is important. I also assume you changed the bypass filter (internal after 2007) external prior. Since you have pump pressure I also am under the assumption that you filled ther tourque converter 1st then 8qt in the trans run for 30 seconds then add 4 more qt and top to proper level after prelim operatiin. Code p1704 or p1744 could be the range sensor mentioned earlier (MLPS) improper fluid level can break the gear and pump assembly so I would double check the pressure. This is all I have short of checking it in the shop. I hope one of these things gets you running.

Yes I did change out my external filter as well as I cleaned out my internal filter.. The only thing I can think of now that it can be is my PC-A solenoid isn't putting out enough pressure and it just isn't throwing a code for it?? That or the bolts tht hold. The solenoid body in place are.loose

Given the options and time consumed I would personally work my way back through all the possibles at this point all the way down to the smallest detail like space between tourque converter and flywheel etc. Its time to check specs, tolerences and tightening torques. If the flywheel to tc spacing has changed in the slightest it can also prevent forward motion. If you have the time, run the checks if not then spending the money in the shop is the next option.

What Is The Transmisson Oil Capacity For A 2002 Ford Excursion

It depends on which tranny you have and if you drain the converter or not.If you just pull the tranny pan and change the gasket and filter and you don't drain the converter if your tranny is a 4R100 it will take 6.5 quarts. If your tranny is a 5R110W it will take 7.5 quarts.

1995 crown vic gear problems/gear shift wont lock

most likely the shift tube bushings are bad- you may have also lost a few screws in the shift tube or they could just be loose. you have to pull the steernig column down to inspect/repair it.
