Question about Volvo Cars & Trucks

I have a 95 VOLVO 850 T. WHAT WOULD CAUSE THE KEY TO NOT ENTER THE IGNITION OR TURN IT OVER?

MY KEYS WERE STOLEN FOR 3 MONTHS AND WHEN THEY WERE RETURNED ALL OF A SUDDEN MY KEY WOULDNT GO INTO THE IGNITION UNLESS I PULLED THE SWITCH OFF. I MADE SURE IT WAS MY KEY BY MY DOORS SO THERE IS NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT.

Save yourself a big headache and call a locksmith the ignition keys are cut different than the door and trunk locks, you can get an estimate from the locksmith and the price will surprise you. I hope this helps, Take care

Did you have another key so you could drive the volvo or did it set for 3 months. I you did not insert a key for 3 months, it is possible that something entered the key tumbler or someone tried another key or screwdriver or pick and bent the key tumblers. You may need to replace the key tumbler and key or have a key tooler take your key and tumbler and reset them so that the would work together again.

SOURCE: KEY WONT TURN IGNITION

Your car uses a transonder key, a key with a small chip embedded inside. The transponder is matched to the immobilizer unit in your car. When the key is inserted into the ignition, the immobilizer searches for that transponder, if it's not near the ignition, the car will just keep turning over and not start. Your only real options are to replace the steering lock or buy a transponder bypass unit, which I do not recommend. Just do a google search.

Volvo 850 radio unlock code

We just unlocked a 98 Volvo S-70 radio,on the front, you have 2 slots across from each other, use you finger nails or a dime to get it to come out, then you can pull it out, then get the serial number and write it down, then put stereo back in,then get your vin number,it's on your insurance card, then call dealer and ask for your radio code, they will ask for vin number and radio serial code,if your radio says code, then you can enter it,ifit says off, then it's locked, you have 3 tries till it locks and it says off,if it says off, then you turn key to number 1,turn radio on,wait 2 hours, then it will say code, then enter code and radio will unlock, our code is 5513 if you want to see if it will work for you. Here's a link to you owners manual, read about the radio code, same as our's,but the dealer will give it to you free. 1994 Volvo 850 Watch this video. Alarm activated and is unable to deactivate

REMOTE KEY INITIALIZATION For this type of key.
attachment.php?attachmentid=11303&d=1375746027&thumb=1&s=cdbd899db156db62f9d976a9f18e6663

The initialisation of the FZV keys is required to establish the Lock/Unlock signal synchronisation with the GM V. The initialization procedure provides the GM with a key identification number and a "rolling code" for each key. If the initialisation is not performed, the GM will not respond to the key signals. Up to 4 remote keys can be initialised. They must be initialised at the same time. Key initialisation is only possible with the vehicle unlocked.

Procedure:
1. Close all doors and have all keys available.
2. Using key number 1, turn the ignition switch to KL R, then switch off within 5 seconds and remove the first key.
3. Within 30 seconds of turning the ignition switch to "off" Press and hold button #2 .
4. While holding button #2 , press and release ("tap") button #1 three times within 10 seconds.
5. Release both buttons. The LED in the key will flash momentarily. The GM will immediately lock and unlock the doors signalling a successful initialisation.
6. If additional keys need to be initialised repeat steps 3 - 5 within 30 seconds.
7. Switching the ignition to KL R completes the initialisation.

SERVICE NOTE:
The key memory function of the GM responds to the key identification number of each key. If the keys are not initialised in the same order prior to initialisation, the key memory functions activated by the keys will not be assigned correctly. Always initialise the keys in the same order.

Where is the shut-off switch for tundra alarm

Hi, I am not sure where the switch is but 3 months ago the following was posted by:-

liverhuyen2003 answered 3 months ago
Make sure the drivers front(left front) door is closed and you have your car keys. Insert your door key into the drivers door and turn it to the locked position two times. Then turn the key to the unlock position twice. The alarm should be disarmed, now.

SECOND TECHNIQUE: If not then take the ignition key and turn the ignition switch all the way ON then OFF then ON a second time and OFF again. These are the procedures for nearly all factory alarm systems. If neither of these works you probably have an after market(add-on) alarm system.

Warnings This technique is only for use on your own car that you own and have keys for. If you don't have the keys- disconnect the negative battery cable to stop the horn until you get your keys. Then reconnect the negative terminal and proceed to step one.

Hope this helps!

My ninety nine Acura Cl was stolen and ignition switch was damaged so I bought a new one and it came with three keys two black and one gray key after installation the car will turnover but wont start...

Question?. do you still have the original keys. The reason that I ask is you have 2 options, take the car to a dealer (towed) and they can reset the computer. Option 2 is easier, take your original key and your new ignition (obviously you know how to remove the barrel because you have changed it), take both to a good locksmith and have your new lock recoded to your old key (take the keys so they can remove the barrell), this will allow you to use your old key and your computer will forget that it was stolen The option is yours

For the last five years that I have owned my 2004 Chevy Impala I have had problems with it not wanting to start at certain times, usually and mostly during the summer months, but not all the time. I get...

I had the same thing happen to my impala. It was the sensor in the ignition switch for security purposes. I had too many keys on my key ring, and it caused the ignition switch to not read my key right. Once I had the ignition switch repaired, I don't put so many keys on my key ring. It cost me about $300.

WIPERS AND DOME LIGHT AND POWER WINDOWS ONLY WORK WHEN YOU BUMP STARTER

This has been a common problem in fords. The issue is generally simple to fix. The Problem is the ignition switch. Not the Ignition tumbler where the key goes in but, the actual Electrical portion of the Switch.
Because you have not listed the exact year and model I will tell you that the ignition switch is generally located directly across from the key. This requires removing the sterring column cover over the ignition, just behind the steering wheel. Once removed you will see a switch located on the opposite side of the keys( Generally on the left) It will have a push on wiring harness and 2 or 3 mounting screws. Simply remove the wiring clip, remove the screws and then remove the switch. A switch can be purchased at your auto parts dealer. I do not recommend using a junk yard part unless you want to do this again in a few months.
