SOURCE: What does reduced engine power light mean

this model has what they call fly by wire.. no accelerator cable. If the computer detects a problem in the thottle system it will not allow the engine to accelerate and will show reduced power and possibly set a check engine light. The dealer usually wants to replace the throttle assembly which is very expensive and usually un nessesary.
I have had a lot of succes with just cleaning the throttle plates real good.

SOURCE: 2004 chevrolet suburban service engine light

If you have - or can borrow an OBD tester - down load the diagnostic codes and check in the manual for their meaning. You can also shunt the dianostic port with a wire and read the flashes off of the instrument panel to see the codes being flashed and find their meaning in the appropriate service manual (this manual will also tell you how to properly shunt the dia port). A GM dealer will sometimes advise on this.

SOURCE: Reduced engine power came on i'n my 00 chevy

Ok I would start by checking your shifter to make sure it adjusted right and you can do this by looking at your shift indicator if that is ok then might have a bad manual shift valve thats in the transmission, if that valve goes bad it would tell the pcm that your transmission is being shifted into another gear while your driving causing the Power control module (PCM) to out you vehicle into reduced engine mode

Its telling you your vehicle has been placed in limp mode to prevent damage. You need to have your computer checked for codes that should lead to the issue causing the limp mode or reduced power mode

Have the fault codes read as a reduce power message means that something is wrong either in the engine or the gear box. check oil and coolant levels and treat the message seriously as it is intending to stop costly damage

Having difficulty filling gas tank of my 2004 Suburban at gas station. The gas pump constantly clicks off. Cannot fill at normal speed. I have recently had the check engine light appear -- stating that...

You may have a fuel tank vent valve that isn't working. This valve lets air into and out of the fuel tank as fuel is added to the tank and then later used by the engine. If the valve won't open or is plugged with dirt/dust/debris then it's becomes very difficult to add fuel to the tank. This problem would also cause the EVAP system to fail a self test and turn on the check engine lamp with a related service code. Often there is more than one reason a particular code like this can be set, a loose fuel cap being just one of them, and it takes a bit of testing to determine the exact cause. A good service facility should be able to test the system and determine what is wrong fairly easily on this one. Good luck, hope this helps.

Service Stabilitrak-Reduced Engine Power

the engine light is a generic fault indicator in your car to point out something is not quite right with the engine, having a loss of power as well is also known in some areas as Limp Mode or Safety Mode. it means the car is restricting the power it gives to ensure no damage it done to the engine.

the only certain way to find out what is wrong is to take it to a garage that has diagnostics equipment that can read the fault codes from the vechicles ECU (the fault codes will be the reason the light on the dash has come on as its reporting a fault somewhere)..

your mechanic should be able to tell you what is wrong with the engine from that and give you a more accurate cost at fixing it.

Code on 2002 chevy suburban C0298

This code means that the powertrain sensed a traction control malfunction. Most likely a speed sensor in one of the wheels sent a wrong signal and set your light on.

2005 suburban stabilatrac disabled

The Reduce Engine Power problem on my 03 Suburban went away when I had to replace the fuel mixing sensor. I damaged the sensor by topping off with E85 (ethanol) by mistake late at night. The vehicle just would not turn on in the morning. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealer. I was in Carlsbad NM about 800 miles from home. I had no choice but to pay $1,100 to get it fixed. At the same time the Reduce Engine Power problem went away. And thanks to God it has not come back for nine 9 months now.
