SOURCE: 98 ford Exped. oil and engine light come on but go off on restart

did you check the transmission heat sensor or the intake air sensor these can be incorporated with temp guage on some vehicles

but theres also the problem of alternator is getting ready to give only
take an electro meter and hook up to cigarette lighter with a 2 post power maker and watch the voltage as your driving try to recreate the conditions that brought this about if the reading changes dramatically this will tell your alternator will need to be replaced at some point also dead cells in battery creates this little bump in electrical

SOURCE: 2000 ford windstar won't crank over, but pats keys good, and batt.

First thing I would check is to see if you have power at the trigger wire of the starter motor while someone is trying to start the vehicle for you. It will be a Yellow with a light blue trace. If you do then I would check to see if the main battery cable has power to it all the time when someone is trying to crank it. If it does then I would hold a test light on the case of the starter motor and have someone try to crank it. Make sure that the ground you use for this test is on the negative battery terminal not just anywhere on the car. If the test light lights while you are cranking it then you have a bad ground. Hook up a set of jumper cables from the battery negative terminal and clamp it directly on to your starter motor and see if it starts. If you check it and the test light doesn't light up and all the other checks are good then your starter motor has failed. If one of the other tests has failed then you have a starter relay problem or something else. let me know what you find out.

SOURCE: My 98 Bonneville won't start.

Have the battery checked for voltage and amperage. A dead cell in a battery will have power but nothing to turn the starter. If its not the battery try replacing the starter.

Ignition relay or fuse could be the problem. When you turn the key to start do you hear a fuel pump kicking on and or do you have spark when you hot wire the starter (I know it's hard to check while trying to start it)? You can email me back and I might be able to pinpoint it more.

Car cut off while driving

Hi,
Bad news....if you ran low on oil, the car likely sustained engine damage and will need major engine repair/replacement.

A mechanic can determine the exact issue.

Try turning the key to the on position (do not start) for about 10 minutes or so! This should reset the security which is probably cutting off the fuel circuit! I know GM had many ignition problems with this!

Here is the scenario...I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am V6. I was driving down the road and pushed on the gas, the car started slowing down and I pulled off the road. The car then stalled out. No dummy...

The reason why your oil and battery light came on is because thats what shows up with the key in the on position..that has nothing do do with anything. I would get a test light or volt meter and test the wires connected to fuel pump. in most cases it can just be a bad connection...gm is known for that. and inline electric fuel pump will not work and is not safe. You need specific pressure comming from the fuel pump. and it will not be connecting to an inertia switch(a switch which shuts of in shock of an accident to cut off the fuel pump) its worth the money to get the fuel pump if thats what you need.
but check those wires and connector first

1984 F-150 none of the gauges work temp, volts

I would check with a Haynes (or equiv) manual. Probable fuse link from battery is out, a wire-type fuse "link". Check the fuse block, is there 12 volts coming in with key ign on? Does the truck start and run? Ignition switch is ok?
