the plastic panel pops off , if you had a trim removal tool it would be nice but it can be improvised , they are just tension clips , get some kind of lever behind the panel and give it a pop , once the plastic panel is off its pretty much self explanatory from there , a connector and couple small bolts , now the outside has nut under the w/w blade , a piece of the arm cover pops up to access the nut , remove w/w arm , then a grommet and under the grommet is a bigger nut that helps hold the motor onto the door/hatch , when reinstalling before you put the w/w arm back on run the wiper and make sure it shuts off and in the park position . should be a piece of cake .

I have the same issue, and just did it yesterday.
1. remove the rear hatch door handle with a T35 star screwdriver bit
2. gently pry the panel up exposing the two bottom plastic push fasteners
3. I used a flat prybar with the notch on the fastener and pryed both off
(the push fastener has 2 washers on the top end so get the pry bar under the top one)
4. Now pull the panel off the side door latches and gently pull down again to expose the two back push fasteners and pry them off too.
You now should be able to remove the motor. The wiring harness comes off easily after you figured out that the only the small end closest to the wires comes off, not the whole "box". Insert the small blade of a jacknife crosswise in the space on top of the connector and pry up the tab letting the fasterner slip off.
I found a motor on the net for about $80 (part number1880686) but it currently is out of stock so I have to wait a couple of weeks to finish. I put the panel back on without the push fasteners and will wait the 2 weeks. Buick dealer wanted $320.
Good Luck

Well you going to have to open the tailgate up and remove the inside cover that is attached to it. You will need a small flat head and a No. 2 star head screw driver and some gloves so that you don't cut your hands....
First where the handle is remove the caps on the handle and then remove the handle there may be a small pocket around the handle to remove it also with the screw driver....And then remove the garnish from around the tailgate by using the small flat head and your fingers to pry it off with....Remember just to take your time when doing this and wear some safety glasses so that nothing goes in your eyes.
Once you have removed the garnish you should see the wiper motor there should be three bolts that hold it in place and wire wire coupler that it hooked up to it. And before you undo the motor you will need to go on the outside of the tail gate you will need to remove the wiper arm off of the motor and then take the rest off after that.
