SOURCE: brake caliper removal
Sometimes they use a T-50 torx bit, and sometimes they use either a 15mm or 18mm bolt, however the caliper bracket is a 21mm bolt

On my Golf 1.9TDI (2005) both top and bottom Calliper fastenings have a 7mm Allen bolt thus you will need a non standard 7mm Allen Key not 12 point

They should both have rubber sleeves. It keeps 'gunk' out of the caliper area for the caliper bolt.

Is the other rubber sleeve, stuck in the caliper bolt hole where you can't see it?
