SOURCE: HOW TO REPLACE THERMOSTAT

It should be located in a housing on top of the engine.

  • You'll need a bucket.
  • This is also a good time to do a coolant flush or replacement
  1. Follow the hose from the top of your radiator to the engine. This is the thermostat housing.
  2. Remove this hose from the engine and collect the fluid in the bucket.
  3. Remove the (usually 2) bolts holding the housing to the engine.
  4. The small round object inside is the thermostat. It's usually loose but if you have severe corrosion, you may have to pry it out with a screwdriver.
  5. Replace the thermostat.
  6. Re-install the housing and hose.
  7. Top off your coolant with new fluid
  8. Dispose of old fluid properly (This stuff is poisonous!)

SOURCE: Where is the thermostat?

You'll find it where the radiator hose mates with the engine block to the left of the dipstick. Drain the coolant and disconnect the hose and you'll find it seated neatly within the block and it should just pull right out.

Will a 2 litre vw Golf 2011 diesel fit a 1.6 diesel 2011 Golf

I wouldn't suggest it. It wouldn't be just an engine swap that you unplug and unbolt and and then reverse...thats not to say it can't be done with a lot of thinking and work and reprogramming that's usually for vw experts...your better off to keep looking at other wreckers for the exact motor

Are toyota avensis wagon good cars

hello and greetings
i have been following avensis even before it came to existence, i mean to say i owned a toyota carina diesel td, before then an avensis 2002 first generation and now avensis second generation 2008 and all of them were diesel.
i found carina and avensis gen 1 to be easily manageable and easy to replace daily parts like lights and engine parts. i got impressed with carina thats why i bought avensis both are brilliant cars with minimal hokus pokus and focus being on the engine and long running machines with very or no visits to garage. due to change in environment laws and advancement in technology, the latest avensis is much more quiet, effective and runs very good , still toyota has kept it simple when it comes to interior and outlook, but the engine of the avensis has become more effective and powerful and also smooth.
few things to keep in mind is that that gen 2 avensis has egr and diesel particulate filter, these can clogged if the avensis is driven less and short tours, in my case this is not the problem. i already have spare diesel particulate filter and turbo with me bought on internet, in case it goes wrong. would like to mention that a friend of mine have mercedes and the dealer has advised him to drive on a long tour every year for over 180km to keep the engine from dying.
so this problem is not just related to avensis.
here are the pros and cons
pros.
1. reliable
2. few visits to garage.
3. good mileage around 16 to 18 km pr litre
4. big trunk room
5. small to big family requirement is fulfilled
6. nice on long routes

cons
1. simple design with no first class interior

so as you see the pros are more than cons and hence making it the first choice

Toyota Avensis D4D 2004 2.0L DIESEL

Hi there!

I think you will probably have to use two sources of information for work in this.

Info on the Toyota Diesel engine is downladable from this Website -

http://pdftown.com/Toyota-Engine-1KZ-TE3-Litre-Turbo-Diesel-Hilux-4WD-Service-Manual.html

And a copy of the Haynes manual for the Petrol version is available Here for a reasonable cost -

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FREE-POST-UK-HAYNES-TOYOTA-AVENSIS-R-52-B-NEW-MANUAL_W0QQitemZ140241391104QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item140241391104&_trkparms=72%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C65%3A12&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Most sections will be covered between these two sources.

Thank you.
