There's a good chance the engine is burning that much oil. Depending on mileage it could be the PCV valve sticking, the piston rings could be bad or perhaps valve guides are going bad, usually indicated by a puff of blue smoke when it starts after sitting a while. This is not a problem so long as you keep an eye on the oil level. PCV valves are cheap and easy to change. I hope this helps. Take care. If you have more questions for me use testimonial. Thanks!

1999 Infinity. Where is the fuse that supplies backup/memory power to the E.C.M. on it.

Question edited for clarity and toss in some CAPS.

There is nothing that backs up memory. When you disconnect the battery, all memory is lost, which is why it is important not to do it!

You don't tell us the model? Is it a secret? All questions need 'year make model' as the FIRST 3 words.

If your have a 1999 Infinity I30, the ECM Fuse is Fuse 58.

Leaking oil Ford Freestar-was halfway between two lines on dipstick when I checked last week-puddle this evening and am down just past the bottom line-put in a quart but am worried to drive the car to

well it could be several things like pan plug seal cracked, oil pan leaking, rear main seal bad, front engine seal bad, head bolts not properly torqued, head could be cracked, but I would start with the oil pan drain plug seal and work from there.

88 Toyota p/u stalled on way home. Engine was smoking and the oil light came on. I immediately put in one quart of oil, got it started and drove it half a block to park it safely. Got another quart of oil...

It's not suprising that the engine stalled after getting hot considering you had run the engine out of oil as indicated by oil pressure light coming on and needing two quarts to refill it. Now that the oil is replaced, you could keep driving, but it would be wise to investigate why it had got so low on oil in the first place. Refer explanation below. You should check the oil level weekly to ensure it is at the correct level and top up if necessary. For that year vehicle, oil and filter changes should be around the 3,000 mile / 5,000 Km mark.
It sounds like the engine could be using excessive oil by either leaking out or being burnt in the cylinders.. If there is a major leak then there will be oil puddles under the engine after sitting for a while. Excessive oil burning in the cylinders is indicated by grey oil smoke from the exhaust when driving. If engine has oil and grime all over the best way to find the leaks is to get the engine pressure cleaned and then observe where the oil leaks are. The most usual places for older vehicles are the sump and valve cover gaskets followed by crankshaft seals. Oil leaks can also come from a loose oil filter or a faulty warning light pressure switch. If exhaust smoke is excessive then it would indicate worn piston rings and / or valve guides and seals.
