Question about Chevrolet Silverado

Open Question

Why is my 1997 Silverado 5.0 vortec stuttering and stalling intermittently?

1997 silverado 5.0 vortec. Intermittent stalling, sometimes completely stops running, sometimes just a stutter. It might happen two or three times a day and then not happen again for a week. I have replaced crank sensor and ignition control module trying to fix the problem. When scanned I get no code. I have recently replaced catalytic converter, o2 sensors and fuel pump, not because of the stalling but because the repairs were needed.

Have you checked for spark on all 8 plugs? Unplug the exhaust side coil pack and run the engine. Does it run on all 4 cylinders?

SOURCE: 2002 vw passat....starts fine and drives

It appears that your brake booster system has a major vacuum leak which is causing the engine to go lean and stall. Check the hose between the intake manifold and the brake booster. It may be cracked or loose causing outside air to enter the hose when the brake is applied.

You will need to replace your driver side temp actuator. It is most likely sticking or over travelling. It is located under the dash directly below the a/c control head. It is bolted to the a/c box upside down with two small bolts. Let me know if i can help more.
