I was trying to get running lights to come on in a trailer - only the brakes and turn signals were working. When I unplugged the cord for the lights, everything went out - I assumed I blew a fuse.

I disconnected the battery and let it sit over night and reconnected this morning. Looks like it reset everything because the dashboard panel works correctly again. Thank you for your patience and your help.

SOURCE: instrument panel

If you take off the cover around the steering colum there should be a wire connected above your blinker switch if its not all the way pushed in tac ,speed and other lights will not work.

SOURCE: Tail lights don't work on 1998 Chevy Silverado.

check the wiring from the tailights back to the fuse panel, it sounds like an open connection. if i recall correctly check under the dash on the drivers side near the fuse panel for a bunch of wires in a bundle and look carefully for a wire or two that are cut/shorted/or seperated, you can also check under the drivers side kick panel by the hood release.

SOURCE: No Instrument Panel Lights

The instrument panel has an internal short.
This is very common failure with the instrument cluster. You need to take to the dealer for repairs.

SOURCE: 2006 5.3ltr chevy silverado z71 p0455 andp0449

These codes are for the evaporative emission system. The 455 is the vent solenoid. The 455 is a large leak in the evap.system.The vent solenoid I would replace because they go bad and will not work because they are under the vehicle in the rear of the truck. There is a bulletin for these and the vent valve is installed in another spot. The number for the bulletin is 02-06-04-037E.You should also look for a broken or loose hose or pipe that might have came off.Specially if you ran over something. If none found it could just be the vent solenoid stuck in the venting position.Good luck.

2003 Silverado Z71. Has had nothing wrong with it. Drove it fine all day. When I parked it and turned it off I thought I hear a pop sound, sorta like when a fuse blows..now there is nothing..it's...

Something is shorted, large amp fuses do not just blow. Go under the hood to the big black box marked FUSES. You are looking for the blown main ALT or BAT fuse, but you must find out why it has blown.
Make sure nothing has shorted out your positive battery cable, accessary wire, did you add anything to the electrical system that was not fused ?

2001 Z71 Service 4x4 light came on and the indicater lights for what drive modes I can select do not light up. Is this something I can service myself and reset the light?

I had this exact problem and it was just a blown fuse. Not sure why the fuse blew but this happened 6 years ago and has not duplicated since. Everything returned to normal once the fuse was replaced.

On my 1999 chevy silverado the only gauges that work are the oil pressure gauge and the temperature gauge. nothing else is working cot even the speedometer or the RPM gauge.

The stepping motors in the gauges go bad. Do a search on ebay for CHEVY SILVERADO INSTRUMENT CLUSTER for cheaper repair options, dealer costs $300.00

I am having the same problem on an 04 2500hd there isa 15 amp stop light fuse inside the cab on the side of the instrument panel and a 25 amp stop light fuse under hood. you could also have a break switch issue the switch is located up on the break pedal linkage you should have power on the white wire when you push the pedal in (check with a test light) in my case I have a broken wire along the frame rail in the harness it is a light blue wire,
