Sometimes their doors switch if you spray a little WD-40 maybe one of these switches are stay open but you can't see it the light won't come on also check if you have one of those light bulbs that when you open the trunk or the hood it comes on the first thing we'll do the ones from the trunk remove the light bulb or remove the light bulbs from the doors from the interior doors and the trunk and put your battery back on if it if it doesn't drain and is one of those light bulbs most of the times is the one on the trunk this this switch the auto Mercury switches off or damage

Brad is right about the parasitic drain. You can track this down with a cheap multimeter from Harbor freight. There are many videos on YouTube about how to do this including A good one by Ericthecarguy. Search for “how to find a parasitic drain in a Car.”

You need to test for something called parasitic drain. This is a problem with devices that run when the vehicle is off. There are instances where the electronic controls in some GMC vehicles exhibit battery drain intermittently.

i want to know why the battery i took out of another vehicle and put it into the GMC and sit for 2 night didn't died like the autozone battery?

  • Brad Brown Feb 09, 2019

Some of the modules like the BCM ECM etc can hold a drain condition when the vehicle is turned off, when the battery dies or is removed, it resets.

AND you still need to do a parasitic test. Likely the battery is fine.

SOURCE: replace starter on 2002 GMC Envoy SLT

check to see if the starter itself is getting a signal to crank. youll need to use a test light and have someone else try to start the vehicle, while you probe the wire to the starter to see if it is getting power. if not, check the starter fuse to make sure its not blown, as well as the starter relay to make sure that is good too (very common on gm's for bad relays) if the fuse and relay are good, but your not getting signal, it is an ignition switch problem.

SOURCE: Nissan Wont hold a charge

Hi. this is defiantly a slow or major drain that is occurring within this vehicle. Here is a test that you can preform that will help you find this battery drain so you can illuminate this issue.

--BATTERY DRAINAGE TEST PROCEDURE--

Using a 12-volt test light, hook one end to the negative battery post the other end to the negative battery cable you just disconnected. The test light will glow or "light" if there is a drain. If the "light or glow" is faint, that is probably normal draw for the clock or computer. If the "light or glow" is bright, then there is a large drain. That should be corrected. Now start removing and replacing the fuses one by one until the light goes out; that one will be the circuit with the drain. Remember to hold in the button in the door jam for the interior lights.

Please rate and god bless:)

It's a short in the instrument cluster.
I had the same problem with my 2004 XUV.
It started in early December of 2007.
Intermittent manifestations, than more persistent.
Took it to the GMC Dealer --
Of course, the Truck wouldn't do it's tricks for the Tech.
They replaced the ignition switch and sent me home.
It got progressively worse.
I waited until I was sure it would do it for the tech.
Took it back in to GMC Dealer--
It's a short in the instrument cluster.
They needed to replace the entire cluster.
I bought an extended warranty when I bought the truck.
The warranty is still in effect --
So I only had to pay the $100 deductible.
No Idea what it might cost otherwise.

Gmc keyless entry

I would start by replacing the battery in the key fob remote that goes on your keychain. You can take it to most auto part stores and they will test/replace the battery in the device. It's a fairly cheap fix. If the device still isn't working after a new battery, then you will need to replace the fob. Some auto part stores like, AutoZone, will carry some of them but some you need to go to your local GMC dealer.

Idle control on 2003 GMC Envoy SLT

There is no idle adjustment on these vehicles, it is controlled by the computer.
You probably need to have the throttle body cleaned, make sure it is cleaned on the front side and back side. And the battery should be disconnected while the cleaning is done, this will reset the computer.

Looking on autozone.com, the calipers are about $50 each, similar for rotors, and the pads are about $60 for the set. Total parts is about $250. Labor is about 2-3 hours. $1200 sounds steep to me. I would ask for a line item estimate. Thanks for using FixYa.
