Mercedes W202 fuel tank issues

When the level of fuel on my W202 gets to 3/4 the fuel gets cut off but anything above 3/4 the car works fine. I changed the pump and filter but no change.

I think your fuel tank vent may be plugged. When this happens again, unscrew the fuel cap on the tank and see if the car re-starts and runs. Not sure what year your 202 is...

SOURCE: how to change fuel filter in 88 firebird 305 5.0

Some of the Camaro/Firbirds had access to the fuel pump in the rear behind the rear pass seats on top of the hump. Some folks have learned to cut their own access in this area due to the amount of work involved in getting the tank out, as it can be a job. So pull the carpet up in the rear to see if yours has this access. If not you ether have to drop the tank or cut your own access, If you cut your own access you will need to make a good cover, you will need 3 brass  compression union fittings 5/16 inch I believe. You have to cut the fuel lines with a hack saw. You do not have room for a tubing cutter, they have to be cut close to each other, but leaving room to get the nuts on the fittings. It can be done this way but first time is very hard to do. Just remember you are playing with a fuel tank, no sparks, no flames, no grinders, no goofs. If done right, next time in is easy, takes about 45 minutes in out with new pump, if pump ever goes bad it can be replaced on the side of the road thru the trunk.

Change to Exterior filter not the tank filter. The in tank filter is actually a sock located on the Fuel Pump in the tank. This is rarely a problem. The exterior filter is going to be in-line most likely on the passenger side of the vehicle toward the rear. Easiest way to locate it is to trace the fuel lines back tot eh front of the vehicle from the fuel tank.

Mercedes not firing on 2 cylinders

If your Mercedes C200 W202 is not firing on two cylinders, and you've already changed the coil packs, plugs, fuel pump, and filter, here are a few other things you can check:
  1. Check the fuel injectors: It's possible that the fuel injectors on cylinders 2 and 3 are clogged or not functioning properly. You can check this by swapping the injectors with ones from another cylinder and seeing if the problem moves with the injectors.
  2. Check the wiring harness: The wiring harness that connects the fuel injectors to the engine control unit (ECU) may be damaged or have a loose connection. Check the wiring harness for any signs of damage or corrosion, and ensure that all connections are tight.
  3. Check the ECU: The engine control unit (ECU) may be malfunctioning and causing the issue. A diagnostic scan tool can be used to check for any error codes related to the ECU.
  4. Check the compression: Low compression in cylinders 2 and 3 can cause issues with firing. A compression test can be performed to check the compression levels in all cylinders.
If you're still experiencing issues after checking these items, it's best to have a professional mechanic diagnose and fix the issue. They will have the knowledge and equipment necessary to properly diagnose and repair the problem.

I have a MB,C180 Manual W202. Cuts out whilst driving.

This model has its fuel tank in two compartment. one on the right, the other on the left. When you fill it full tank, both sides will be filled. When engine is running, the fuel pump sucks fuel from only (RIGHT SIDE) of the compartment. And the excess fuel is sent back to the LEFT SIDE of the compartment via the return pipes.
When you reach half tank mark, the fuel in the RIGHT compartment dries out and the engine dies out but the fuel gage still show half tank.

This setup depended on the siphoning effect by the pipes in the tank to suck fuel from the other tank and send it to the pump side tank.

Read this forum on how to they solve the problem.

How do I fix the center lock vacuum pump on Mercedes Benz c220 w202 1994,

I have had this problem on C180 ...fixed by removing rear door panel then taking the line for vacuum off lock then using an old hypodermic syringe sucked the air out and blew pressure back in this can sometimes reset but certainly gains access to boot.you need to access the panel in the boot usually above wheel arch on battery side...and check the vacuum servo for water ingress or blocked filter.these units need replacing if total failure.again a scrapyard or eBay is probably your best bet.

How to remove the fuel tank of mercedes 1994 c230 and fix the fuel gauge please tell me , its showing empty the tank but full of petrol, i want to remove the gauge and change or clean it.

The official repair time for replacing the fuel tank is almost seven hours but the given time for replacing the fuel level sensor is less than two hours so it would seem it is not necessary to remove the fuel tank, though it could be necessary to lower it a little.

I suggest you obtain model-specific repair information for your model. There might be access through the body after removing the rear seat cushion, for instance.

Good luck!

try this you say you have gas in it but you didnt specify whether or not the fuel was getting to the engine. try opening your gas cap and placing your ear to the opening then have a helper turn the key to the on position and see if you hear a whirring sound coming from the tank for about 3 seconds then should stop to make sure your fuel pump is working
