SOURCE: high Rpm in my toyota Corolla
lower your carburetor gas screw adjuster, there must be 1part gas and 5 parts air.
SOURCE: high idle and engine getting hot
most common thing for this is either a failed coolant temp sensor that is not telling the computer that the car is warmed up and it is still running at cold Idle speed adn the code will tell you that.
Or a vacuum leak and the computer is trying to make up for the leak my making changes to the fuel deliery to keep the engine running .
If you find this information helpful please give me a fixya! Rating and if you need more help on this problem please contact me.
The only way to find out what code is stored in the computer and what turned the check engine light on is with an OBDII scan tool and also the only way to turn off the light but just turning off gthe light does not fix the problem, as soon as the computer does it checks again and you have completed the predetermined dive cycles the light will return so the only way to keep the light off is to properly repair the reason it was commanded on in the first place!
SOURCE: tps voltage high
is the tps adjustable on set screws? is something holding the throttle plate open a bit? throttle bore gummed up? a normal tps sweep is about .6 with throttle closed and about 5 volts wide open throttle(key on/engine off) 2nd check for vacuum leaks. what about mass airflow readings?
SOURCE: High Idle speed on 1989 Merc Sable, 3.0L V-6. Approx 2000 RPM
My wife had a 93 ford tempo 4 cylinder with same problem. It turned out to be the idle air solenoid mounted on the air intake manifold.
SOURCE: idle at 1500 to 2000 rpm
Most likely the throttle body gasket (between the throttle body and the intake manifold) is leaking.
