SOURCE: Mazda 2005 RX-8 wont start... ran yesterday, lights on & sounds

I have a 2004 that had the same problem. It sounds like the engine might be flooded. The best thing to do is to remove the fuse to the fuel pump. It will be listed under the fuse cover under the hood. Mine was a 20 amp but check to be sure. With the fuse removed, crank the engine for a minute to remove any fuel flooding the engine. Replace the fuse and crank the engine in 10 second intervals without touching the gas or you will reflood the engine. This process can sometimes take awhile and will drain your battery, so have it connected to an additional power source ( i.e. another car battery or jump box). When the car finally cranks over there will be a huge cloud of smoke so don't be alarmed when it happens. Lastly some words to the wise. This process CAN ruin your starter, but is essentially the same process that the dealership will you except that they will remove the spark plugs to drain the fuel and then charge you for new ones. If this process doesn't work then you probably need new spark plugs which is going to cost quite a bit. I was quoted upwards of $525 to fix this problem until I talked to a Mazda mechanic and found out how to do this myself. Just make sure that the engine is up to running temperature before turning the car off and you shouldn't encounter this problem again. I hope this helps you, and remember that if all else fails the dealer can fix it. It won't be cheap, but they will get it done.

I almost forgot, you HAVE to get the oil changed as soon as possible because there is probably gas in the oil now.

SOURCE: Need to tow 04 mazda rx 8

Top left and right corners of the front grill pull away to reveal the fixing holes. Make sure you WD40 the threads as Mazda coat the threads with paint. insert towing eyes and turn slowly unscrew and screw a bit at a time as you have a good chance of cross threading if you don't. Keep lubricating as you go. Make sure you take the plastic inserts off completely before towing as you will loose them when towing. replace when completed towing. Good luck and hope what ever the reason for towing it is not serious.

SOURCE: 1999 mazda 626 4cyl runs rough at idle , engine

You may have to dig deeper for a vacuum leak. It's possibly the intake manifold gasket. Try spraying some starting fluid around the intake manifold. Also try disconnecting the brake booster and plugging that hose, the diaphram in the booster could be ruptured, causing a vacuum leak. Check the PCV valve and hose too.

SOURCE: code po705 mazda protege lx shaking rough start

The Code you refer to is P0705 Transmission Range Sensor Circuit malfunction (PRNDL Input). It is a possiblility that because this code is present, this sensor is malfunctioning. If it is malfunctioning, that means the engine needs to "guess" the value that this sensor is responsible for. In most cases when this happens, the engine will go for a value that ensures the car runs. The engine will not try to run smooth or efficently, it will only try to run. It is my guess that if you have the sensor checked and replaced, the problem might be fixed. Please let me know if this answers your question and please rate my response. Thank you

Testimonial: "that is good. where is the trasmission range sensor circuit located "

Misfire po300

po300 is a code and it means missfire on multiple cylinders.you say it has multiple missfires on cylinder 1,you should check the spark plugs on this cylinder they may need replacing and if so replace all plugs on motor.the other thing to check is injectors to make sure they are being powered up and have good grounds, and are flowing properly and not plugging up with dirt.you should also check the compression on the motor don`t just do cylinder 1 as a problem could be starting in another even though its telling #1.its also possible you could have a rotor problem on your motor.you don`t say what year this is so you should check with mazda if it is a compression problem as they have adjusted their warranty because of rotory engine problems.just some places to start.expensive to repair depends on how much experience you have on working of rotory engines and if you have the proper tools to do the work.some people feel 100. dollars is expensive some are okay with 2000.dollars.you are the only that can determine this but either way you have to find out what the problem is first.

Had a question bout my mazda rx8 I was driving it one night it was running fine the next day went out and it won't turn over it takes awhile bit it finally starts and idles real rough and you give it...

Too many possibilities

Won't turn over is one problem -battery,cables,grounds,
starter,solenoid,etc

Idles rough-- vacuum leaks, spark plugs never replaced,
egr valve etc

Worn O2 Sensors
Dirty MAF Sensor
Old Fuel Filter

You have to go into a lot of technical detail & history
on your vehicle, for us to even guess.

My 2005 rx8 turns over but doesnt start

I have a 2004 RX-8 and had the same problem. Mine ended up being that the ignition coils went bad. I've read on several forums for rotory cars that the ignition coils are a huge weak point and should be replaced around 30-40K on the odo. For all four(new) I paid 125 or so and fixed the problem right away. It starts better now than it ever has. Took me about 15 mins to change all four out.

What is the warning light on the mazda rx 8 dashboard that looks like a birdcage?

It's the engine coolant level warning light, mine was coming on frequently but would go off again after a few miles, i was told my coolant level was good and that it was a sensor issue, 400 bucks to fix, but luckily my car was still under warranty so it was free.

2004 mazda wont start, blew a front tire and had to be put on rollback. Sat all nite, and now wont start. will crank and can smell fuel.

flooded engine common problem remove all plugs and fuel pump fuse. get fuel out of engine do not istall fuel pump fuse re install all plugs I suggest a good charger be used as system can kill batt very quick run to wires from fuel pump fuse into seating area start cranking the engine over wires not touching once compression sounds alright touch wires to geather (may have to repeat these deflooding wire touching procedure many times) once started do not turn off car till normal operating temp . Once hot turn car off remove wires and re install fuel pump fuse .With RX-8 u cannot just start and stop car right away as in washing car as it can produce this same condition ALWAYS let car warm up before turning off.

Low acceleration and no power

i would take those 2 coils off and check the backing of the packs. any discoloration indicates they are bad or going bad. coils may be working, but not to full potential due to grounding issues.
