My 05 mountaineer keeps over heating. Thermostat been replaced the gauges keep fluctuating, Now the car doesn't want to start. The starter went out Need help don't have no clue what is wrong with it.

Check your Radiator Cap

This has got blown head gasket written all over it. How many miles are on the vehicle. Whens the last time the thermostat was changed?

The two most common reasons are low coolant or a sticky thermostat.
Low coolant can cause air pockets in the cooling system, and a sticky thermostat could be slow to open and close.

If all voltages checked ok,then most probably its faulty instrument cluster board on which gauges are connected.Yes if cluster circuit board looks ok,then also it can be faulty.Somewhere there is minute short or burn on board then such prolem arises.
Also check the fuse box.One under hood and other under dash.Inspect each and every fuse and see if all are fine or not.

GAS GAGE IS EITHER A BAD SENDING UNIT OR "SLOSH MODULE" IF A FORD. HEAT ISSUE IS A VACUUM LOCK IN THE COOLING SYSTEM AND NOT ALLOWING THE AIR TO ESCAPE AND NO WATER TO CIRCULATE.CHECK FOR LEAKS ,THE THERMOSTAT,AND WATER PUMP FOR PROPER CIRCULATION

Definitely check your fluid level in your radiator. Top it off all the way. I've seen that happen multiple times on cars that were low on anti-freeze. If that doesn't work try replacing your thermostat. It's cheap and the easiest place to start if topping off the fluid doesn't get you fixed up.

check your radiator and make sure that the water in the radiator is flowing constantly if not you have to replace your water pump or thermostat it seems to early for that since its an 05 but it can happen
