Fully charged your battery should measure 12.6 volts or higher. So based on you data, your battery is a little weak. Not sure how old it is or what brand, but as the battery ages it weakens. I suggest you first make sure the terminals are freshly cleaned using a terminal cleaner and then take the vehicle it to any parts store and they will load test it for free. Good luck. Hope this helps

Your charging system seems to be working fine you more than likely have a weak battery as small drop overnight is no big deal but if it's going completely dead with the cables hooked up then you probably also have a drain on your System need to have a voltage drop test

No should not leak down...To be sure load test the battery and verify the battery is good. If it is defective all you can do is clean cables and replace the battery.

Rinse off the battery top with water and clean the battery terminal connections at the battery. Disconnect both cables after you get it charged up and see what happens next.

Possible loose or worn alternator belt. Check the condition of the belt. If it's worn, replace it. If it's just loose, tighten it up.

double check battery under load and verify it will hold for 10 seconds without dropping out under 10.5 volts , very possible there is a draw somewhere , check this by pulling fuses one by one with amp meter connected until you see maybe .3 volts .1 volt is normal

SOURCE: h2 battery runs down overnight

sounds like a short circuit, check any aftermarket items first, a slow but easy way is pull on fuse at a time and check current flow from battery un til it stops, when it stops check fuse and see which system is draining

SOURCE: My engine died. There in

Leave the battery disconnected and charge it for about 8-hours with a low-rate charger. Make sure all switches are off, then tap the battery cable back to the post--if you get bright flashes/sparks, you will need to isolate various sections of the wiring by removing fuses and remove the heavy wire going to the alternator. Once you get it to where there are no sparks, push the connector on to the post (but don't tighten yet), start replacing fuses and wire connections one at a time until you find one that sparks--that is the circuit that you need to trace out. If it is the alternator wire, have the alternator tested at an auto parts store. If you got no reaction when replacing the negative cable to the post after charging, a switch may have been left on thus draining the battery. Hope this helps!

If you haven't heard this yet you can pull the negative cable off the battery when it will sit a while. It will not drain the battery if negative cable is off the battery.

1988 lxi honda accord battery drains overnight

Just a couple problems I've had. dome light left on due to faulty door open switch, spot light charger or equipment left plugged or wired to battery, lately I thought I had a bad battery but I just need to clean the terminal connections. One more thing if your car is running you can pull the negative cable off the battery. If the car dies your alternator could be the problem. If you have a light in the trunk or under the hood you could pull the bulb out to make sure you don't have a faulty switch turning them on. These are kind of simple and that is the way I start out.

Car keeps going dead overnight. we have checked the alternator and it is good, we just can't figure out what's wrong with it

You have a draw, something is pulling the battery down when the car is not in use, unplug the alternator, and let the car set over night to see if the battery stays up,make sure the light in the trunk, inside, and hood, are not left on,if the vehicle will start up the next day, then the alternator is bad.

1) Battery dies while car sits overnight. Brand

check the ground to battery and clean posts if need be, also make sure that the alternator is at proper charging rate. a fully charged battery with engine off should read at least 12.5 or higher. when running the battery should read 14 volts or a little higher. clean corrosion from case also if need be. if the above does not work check engine ground.

The altanator will charge the battary but it dies over night. jump it off the battary recharges but goes dead again in a few hours.

HI, what your are experiencing is a Battery drain issue.

There are one or more devices that are not shutting down during the downtime of the vehicle. this will cause the battery to drain overnight. You will need to isolate this drain and fix it asap if possible.

Here is the procedure I use to isolate a battery drain. Remove negative battery cable from the battery. Using a 12-volt test light, hook one end to the negative battery post the other end to the negative battery cable you just disconnected. The test light will glow or "light" if there is a drain. If the "light or glow" is faint, that is probably normal draw for the clock or computer. If the "light or glow" is bright, then there is a large drain. That should be corrected. Now start removing and replacing the fuses one by one until the light goes out; that one will be the circuit with the drain. Remember to hold in the button in the door jam for the interior lights. Now about the "miss" in the engine. We would suggest doing a cylinder leak down test, also check for a "flat" cam. If the problem still exists, scan the PCM (computer) for trouble codes.
