Normal running that warm up time. not stem seal problem unless it dose it all the time engine is running. could just be the engine needs a clean. try seafoam or fuel cleaner and do regular oil filter changes. if you are getting oil lose then check the cam cover gasket or the sump gasket. as these are the main leak areas apart from bain bearing seal. but there is gasket and bearing seal additives you can use to stop these.

SOURCE: When i stop for awhil and then i take off it

If it smokes blue only when you first start it, it is the valve stem seals, that is caused by oil seeping past your seals into the valves and when you first start it the seeped oil gets burned on ignition. If you have blue smoke all the time when you are driving, than it is the piston rings, either way you should look at replacing your motor soon with either a good used Japanese engine from Japan or a rebuilt or remanufactured engine.

SOURCE: Smokes when starting cold engine. Goes away in

valve guide wear causes this. It's not a big issue, but if you ever have the heads off, have the guides replaced or knurled.

Why does my 2001 chevy duramax smoke when it idles

This happens when the vacuum in the manifold is at maximum and the air is drawn down past the valve stems into the combustion chamber. IT takes oil with it and so when you increase the RPM's ( moving off at lights)the burnt oil in the exhaust is expelled as a cloud of smoke . The fix here is to replace the valve stem seals that have gone hard/cracked and are no longer sealing on the valve stems

Black and blue smoke when cold start

Hey Anon..this is a serious problem ONLY if you do not keep your engine oil level full...but you do need to get it repaired as soon as you can..
Sounds like you may only need new valve stem seals...BUT.. you need to check and see if your car smokes when driving.. especially when you are stopped at a red light, then take off again...Does it smoke then.>??? >> THIS IS IMPORTANT!!... It determines whether its rings and/or valve stem seals.. If it smokes after a red light.. it could be rings and valve stem seals.. If it ONLY smokes in the morning.. its a 99% chance its just worn out valve stems seals...
Find a qualified professional (ASE Certified or Toyota Factory shop) ..This is NOT an inexpensive fix..BUT - ASK if they will replace the valve stems seals without removing the heads..( I KNOW they can..its just a matter of WILL they!?!?)...BUT....The shop will want to rework your head(s).. called a "valve job" and this is normal,-- they will remove the head(s), all the valves, regrind their sealing surface and regrind the valve seats in the heads, install new valve stem seals, new intake gaskets, new head gaskets, fresh antifreeze..(get a new -QUALITY- thermostat and have them install it - no need to chance overheating your engine), they should "surface the heads".. giving them a fresh gasket sealing surface.. this will restore the sealing surfaces and help with the compression, and I would recommend letting them do it if you can!!....if you do this -- MAKE SURE you ask/demand for ALL your old parts back,-- all of them!! Good luck,, please mark as/if helpful...thanks!!

1995 Oldsmobile 88 LSS 3.8 smokes at idle

Valve stem seals. Oil is thicker when cold (hence no smoke when cold) Vlave stem symptoms are when engine at idle (high vacume) oil is pulled through the guide seals, when you take off from lights get bit of smoke until oil is burnt. Ring symtoms is it would be blowing smoke all the time especially at higher rpm for extended time ie: driveing. Have you thought of trying a thicker oil? what oil grade do you currently run?

Burning oil

Most of the time, when you first start your engine and it smokes, then the smoking slows down after the engine gets hot; this is a sign of valve seals, because the seals get softer when they are hot and re-seal themselves. If your car smokes all the time, hot or cold this is sign of bad oil rings, because of the oil being forced up past the oil rings, into the cylinder.

Smokes blue and white but not burning no oil or

if u have a 302 or 5.0L it probably is early warning signs of burning oil. Check pcv valve and change oil and use a quart of lucas engine restore. It may also be valve stem seals if only smokes when u start it up.

My 2002 suzuki xl7 smokes when I start it.

If its when you start it cold its probably valve stem seals,as the oil runs through them overnight and dumps in the cylinders when you start it cold and it smokes,if its smoking when hot or warm and when you rev it its probably piston rings, you didnt say how many miles are on the car, even try thicker oil and a new filter to help

Smoking e36 328 ise sport help please

Sorry, but it seems like you have bad valve stem seals. You should also get a compression check of your cylinders for volumetric efficiency to see if the piston rings are bad also.

You're burning oil, I've got the same problem with mine. It's not that big of a problem, just change the oil on time, mine has been doing it for years and there has never been a problem as a result.
